61-year-old dies after his vehicle hits deer

TUSCOLA -- According to a press release from Douglas County Coroner Joseph A. Victor, a 61-year-old man, David L. Madding, of Decatur died in a single vehicle traffic accident Sunday at 3:05 a.m.

The coroner’s office reported that the vehicle Madding was driving east on Ill. Route 36, 1/8 mile west of Douglas County Road 700 East, struck a deer. Madding had a medical history of heart condition and hypertension, the coroner’s report stated.

An autopsy is planned today at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

The coroner’s office was assisted by Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, Arrow Ambulance of Tuscola, and Tuscola Fire and Rescue. There were no other occupants in the vehicle, the report said.
