EdVentures classes to be offered at LifeSpan Center

CHARLESTON — Lake Land College’s Continuing EdVentures program will be offering the following classes at the LifeSpan Center, 11021 E. County Rd. 800N, Charleston (north of Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center):

-- Learn how to make home-crafted gifts this holiday season by attending one or two crochet classes taught by instructor Shirley Splittstoesser.

The Dreaming of a Crocheted Kitchen class teaches participants to crochet two of the following to take home: kitchen towel top, pot scrubbie or dish cloth. To make these step-by-step projects, no crocheting experience is necessary.

Several colors of yarn, nylon net and towels will be provided. Participants must bring an H, I or J crochet hook and scissors. The class will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday and costs $15.

-- In the Crochet a Necklace and Earrings class, participants will crochet a necklace and matching earrings to take home. No crocheting experience is necessary and several colors of ribbon yarn, beads and earring findings will be provided.

Bring an H, I, or J crochet hook, and scissors. To assist in the selection of colors, bring a blouse. The class will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 3 and costs $15.

-- South Seas Adventure: See pictures from someone who has been there. Participants will view scenes from the tropical islands of Tahiti; Bora Bora; Maquesas, home of artist Paul Gauguin;  Pitcairn Island; home of Fletcher Christian; and more. The journey, led by instructor Walter Splittstoesser, will end at Easter Island — home of the Moai (giant statues). The class will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 3 and costs $8.

To register for any or all of these classes, visit www.lakelandcollege.edu/learn and choose the Continuing EdVentures link (pay by Visa or MasterCard). Or call Admissions and Records at 234-5434 and a statement for payment will be sent.
