Renee Beitz score 17 aces in Stewardson-Strasburg win



STRASBURG -- Renee Bietz, one of four seniors honored on Senior Night, had 17 aces as Stewardson-Strasburg swept Mid-American Prep school 25-8, 25-1 Monday in volleyball action. Bietz 17 aces ranks her fourth all-time in the state.

“Both (junior varsity and varsity) teams played together and with great composure,” said Stew-Stras coach Kim Pinson. “The seniors, on their big night, displayed high spirit and leadership.”

Other seniors are Kelsi Anderson, Sarah Conder and Abby Rincker.

Stew-Stras, 5-18 overall, is to travel to Effingham St. Anthony Thursday for the National Trail Conference Tournament.

Arthur falls to Tuscola

ARTHUR — In a non-conference volleyball match Monday Arthur battled Tuscola to three sets, but lost 21-25, 25-17, 25-16.

Katie Davis had a team-high eight kills, while Ashley Tabb had 11 digs and Katie Chapman had 16 assists.

Arthur, 13-10 overall, is to play host to Shiloh Thursday in a Little Okaw Valley Conference contest.

Casey sweeps Robinson

ROBINSON — Michaela Montgomery had four aces and four kills helping Casey-Westfield to Monday’s 25-17, 25-23 non-conference volleyball win over Robinson.

Lacy Maulding set seven assists, Brittany Kirk had six digs and Jordan Hutton five digs for Casey.

The Lady Warriors are 11-9 going into tonight’s Little Illini Conference match at Cumberland.
