Longaberger binga to benefit Lincolnland Hospice

CHARLESTON — The Charleston Wal-Mart store recently donated $2,000 to sponsor Lincolnland Hospice of Sarah Bush Lincoln’s Longaberger Binga on Nov. 16. The event will kick off the Health Center’s 11th annual Festival of Trees.

Longaberger Binga offers participants a chance to win more than $2,500 in Longaberger products. It will begin at 5 p.m. at the American Legion in Mattoon, with a light meal available for purchase.

Net proceeds raised during the event will go to support Lincolnland Hospice in providing uncompensated care to those in need, fulfilling end-of-life requests through its Grant-A-Wish program and providing bereavement services to all community members.

Binga works just like regular bingo, with Longaberger baskets, pottery and wrought-iron products given to the winners of each game. For $10 members of the public can secure one of 250 seats available at the event.

Tickets will be presold and are available in the SBL Health Foundation. A $10 ticket will secure a seat and the chance to play 10 games of binga.

In addition, patrons will be able to purchase tickets at the event, including three games of early-bird binga, two intermission games and the five “Big Five” games. The “Big Five” games will be played for basket sets each worth at least $100, as well as a Longaberger foyer wall unit with woodcraft shelf valued at $250. The winner of a final black-out game will receive a Longaberger foyer bench with woodscraft top valued at $300.

Raffle tickets will be sold for an Illini beverage tub filled with Illini goodies. Tickets for the raffle will be sold prior to the event, as well as at the event.

Each binga player will receive a door prize ticket for a chance to win many new and retired Longaberger baskets, pottery and wrought-iron accessories. Additional door prize tickets will be sold at the event.

For more information, or to buy tickets, call the SBL Health Foundation at 258-2511.
