Health care forum set for Sunday

CHARLESTON — The Health Care Issues Study Group of Wesley United Methodist Church of Charleston will sponsor a panel discussion Sunday on “Understanding Health Care Issues: An Education-Oriented Focus on Challenges, Needs and Reform.”

The forum will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church, 2206 Fourth St. Organizers said the discussion will focus on one of our society’s most important and complicated policy problems and is part of the church’s ongoing effort to promote discussion of health care reform.

The panelists scheduled for the forum are:

n Robert Good, medical director for Carle Foundation Physicians of Mattoon and Charleston and board member of the Coles Community Health Program.

n Kristi Massie, program director of Coles County Telecare with the Coles County Council on Aging.

n Mike Murray, president of the Coles Community Health Program.

n Josephine Underwood, downstate organizing coordinator for the Campaign for Better Health Care.

The moderator will be Donna Hudson, chairwoman of the Compassion Work Area of Wesley United Methodist Church, and the forum will include an opportunity for questions from the audience.

The event is open to anyone interested in understanding the issues in health care delivery and policy in our society.
