EIU just misses top 25 in FCS poll
Eastern Illinois is now just one spot away from the top 25 of Sports Network’s Football Championship Subdivision national rankings.
The Panthers lead the list of others receiving votes, 26 votes short of No. 25 Harvard in the new poll released today.
Eastern is 2-0. Harvard has not yet played a game this year.
Defending national champion Richmond remains No. 1 with Villanova moving up a spot to second.
The Ohio Valley Conference has Eastern Kentucky ranked No. 22 and Jacksonville State No. 24.
In the FCS Coaches Poll, Eastern Illinois is No. 28.
Jacksonville State is No. 22 and Eastern Kentucky No. 23 in the Coaches Poll.
Eastern Illinois is to begin OVC play with a 6 p.m. Saturday game at Southeast Missouri.
