Friends of St. Anthony's receives award from Koboldt Trust

EFFINGHAM — The Friends of St. Anthony’s recently was awarded a gift of $9,000 from the Koboldt Trust, administered by Fifth Third Bank of Effingham.

The award will be used for the Friends Hope and Healing campaign, which is raising funds for the hospital’s Center for Advanced Imaging. To date, the campaign has raised more than $1.8 million toward the $3.5 million for the center, which will provide the latest, state-of-the-art imaging equipment for the region.

The late Virginia Koboldt set aside trust funds to help “alleviate human suffering” in the city of Effingham. Koboldt and her late husband, Paul, were lifelong residents of Effingham. Paul Koboldt served as president of First National Bank of Effingham, which is now Fifth Third Bank. Virginia Koboldt established the trust so that when she died, she could “give back” to the people of Effingham to repay all the kindnesses shown to her.

The Friends of St. Anthony’s was one of 18 recipients this year of the Koboldt Trust. The total distribution from the trust this year was $75,760. To date, the Koboldt Trust has distributed more than $788,000 to many organizations since 1997.
