JFL jamboree takes place today at Charleston

CHARLESTON -- Football season is here for local Junior Football League teams playing in a jamboree today.

With Kalee Dionne of Champaign’s WCIA Channel 3 and college players to attend and other promotions planned, Charleston is playing host to Mattoon, Taylorville, Decatur and Mount Zion in fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade scrimmages at Charleston’s JFL Field at the north edge of town on E Street.

Competition is to start at 10 a.m. with teams to play 10- to 15-minute segments using three fields. The scrimmages are likely to run until mid-afternoon.

Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students.

In addition to lots at the JFL field and nearby Ne-Co Fields, spectators can park at the Baker Baseball Field where shuttle rides are available.
