Clark County 4-H’ers show off work at fair

MARSHALL — The handiwork of local youths will be on display during the annual Clark County 4-H Fair scheduled for Saturday through Wednesday at the Marshall fairgrounds.

The public is invited to view the 4-H general and livestock projects, watch a tractor driving contest and other events, and dine at the 4-H Federation’s food booth during the fair.

“We always encourage the public to come out and look at the exhibits from the 4-H’ers. We have some great projects,” said Jessie Crews, a unit extension educator with the University of Illinois Extension in Clark County.

Saturday’s activities will include general project judging at 9 a.m. followed by a rocket launch, a Cloverbud children’s program exhibit at 11 a.m., a cat show at noon, and a dog show at 12:30 p.m. The general projects also will be on display from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday and will remain on display until 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Monday’s activities will include a horse show at 9 a.m., garden and farm tractor driving contests at 9:30 a.m., bicycle rodeo at 10:30 a.m., and rabbit show at 1:30 p.m.

Tuesday’s events will include a swine show at 8 a.m., foods show at noon, sheep show at 1 p.m. followed by a goat show, and a dress revue/awards program/food auction at 6:30 p.m. The fair will conclude Wednesday with a poultry show at 8 a.m., dairy and beef show at 8:30 a.m., and livestock auction at 6:30 p.m.

The lunch menu at the 4-H Federation’s food booth will offer pizza on Saturday, coney dogs on Monday, barbecue on Tuesday, and pork burgers on Wednesday. The food booth will stay open late for the livestock auction Wednesday evening.
