CIGS Rebels go 2-4 in exposure tourney

ELGIN -- The Central Illinois Girls Softball Rebels went 2-4 in the past weekend’s Orland Park Sparks Exposure Tournament that had more than 60 college coaches in attendance.

Charleston’s Amy Simpson had three hits including a double and Okaw Valley graduate Sam Inman had a triple and a single in the Rebels 13-0 win over Velocity Fast Pitch USA.

In the final pool play game, Inman had a double and single and then had a deep drive caught by the Oak Park Windfall’s center fielder reaching over the fence for the catch of a sacrifice fly as the time limit ended the game.

The Rebels were knocked out of the tournament with a 9-1 loss to Michigan Elite as Michigan State recruit Elle Dorabus shut down the Rebels striking out nine and only walking one.
