CHARLESTON — The Coles County 4-H Aerospace Judging and Rocket Launch was held on June 9 at Sister City Park, Charleston.

4-H’ers displayed model rockets that were judged on construction and knowledge of the 4-H’ers about the project. Following the judging, the rockets were launched into the skies for a demonstration on launching and recovery techniques.

Overall champion was awarded to Luke Mowers, Charleston, son of Mike and Dorothy Mowers. Reserve champion went to Jeffrey Boswell, Charleston, son of Jeff and Aimee Boswell.

The 2009 Illinois State Fair delegate for Coles County is Luke Mowers. Lou Conwell from Charleston officiated the judging and rocket launching.
