Mattoon parade has
freedom to still fit in if you show up at 8




MATTOON — There’s still room to fit into the Mattoon Fourth of July Parade.

There were 70 entries by mid-week for the parade, which steps off at 9 a.m. Saturday at Western Avenue and 21st Street. But showing up during lineup time, which starts at 8 a.m., can secure a place in the parade.

Here’s the lineup, according to the Mattoon Tourism Office:

South side of 2100 block of Western Avenue includes Mattoon Police Department, Mattoon Fire Department, Lincoln Fire Protection District and ladies auxiliary. The northside of 2100 block of Western will include Cooks Mills Fire Protection District, Ansar Shrine Cycle Patrol, American Legion and VFW ladies auxiliary, Ansar Safety Patrol and Illinois Army National Guard.

On the 2200 block of Western, south side: Mayor and city commissioners, Knights of Columbus, Coles County Democrats, Nurturing Touch Massage, St. Mary School, Marissa Chupp, tupperware and Tupperware.

The north side of 2200 block of Western will include Coles County Clerk Sue Rennels, Coles County Republicans, Coles County Circuit Clerk Vicki Kirkpatrick, Windsor American Legion Post 725, Coles County Sheriff’s office, Citizens for Matt Sullivan for Circuit Judge and Friends of Coles County Coroner Ed Schniers.

The 2300 block lineup, south side, will include Mr. & Mrs. Santa, Jim Morgan, 2008 Little Miss Coles County Peyton Gill, Young Digital Photography, Coles County Treasurer George Edwards, U.S. Rep. Timothy Johnson, and circuit court judge candidate Brian Bower.

The north side of 2300 block will have Praise Assembly of God float, Mattoon Area PADS, Sunburst Queen Jasmine Campbell, Relay For Life, Cathy Barton and the Little School House LLC float.

The south side of 2400 block has Camp New Hope entries, CCAR, Fellowship Center with Wilhe Pickit Band and Lutherans for Life. The north side of 2400 block has Miss Teen Bagelfest,Miss Pre-Teen Bagelfest, Little Miss Bagelfest, El Vaquero and Avon Longaberger.

The south side of the 2500 block will include Ace Painting and Handyman, Isaak’s Family Fun Center, Common Links with Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker as well as the runners-up, Hesse Landscaping and 2008 Jr. Miss Cumberland County.

The north side of 2500 block will include Dean Hughes, Calvin Montgomery, Cari Weber with motorcycles, First Christian Church, Mattoon Messenger.net and Pearcy’s Taekwondo.

The south side of 2600 block will include First Southern Baptist Church, First Baptist Kid Pitch/Junior League Baseball, Red Cross, First Presbyterian, Coles County Fair “Little Miss” contestants and Coles County Fair Queen. The remainder of the 2600 block, north side, includes Baker Repair & Remodeling and Liberty Christian Family Church.

The lineup also includes Brandon & Bryce Eaton, Haylie & Karlie Lading horses and Debbie Mowry Horse Training along the 2700 block.
