JUNIOR AMERICAN LEGION SCHEDULE

Pool A: Mattoon 0-1, Mahomet 1-0, Windsor 2-0, Paris 0-2

Pool B: Kansas 0-2, Danville 2-0, Teutopolis 0-1, Toledo 1-0

Games are at Peterson Park’s Grimes Field unless noted

Monday

Toledo 3, Kansas 1

Brendan Ritchie pitched a six-hitter for Toledo Post 764, which won the opener of the Junior American Legion tournament at Grimes Field. Wyatt Matteson broke up a no-hitter with a double to start the bottom of the fourth inning and scored on Tyler Corder's single. Corder also had a double. Kansas Post 539 left 10 runners on base.

Danville 7 Teutopolis 1

Mahomet 9,. Paris 4

Danville 5,  Kansas 3

Jordan King had a double, a single and an RBI for Danville Post 210, which moved to 2-0.

Windsor 5, Mattoon 4

Dalton McFarland hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give the Central Illinois Chiefs of Windsor Post 725 their first win in the Firecracker Tournament. Ryne Floyd pitched for the Chiefs and allowed four runs on eight hits while striking out five Mattoon Post 88 batters.

Windsor 12, Paris 0

The Central Illinois Chiefs of Windsor Post 725 got ahead of Paris Post 211 early with one run in the first inning and three more in the second, but it was a five-run effort in the third inning that put the game out of reach in the 12-0 win.

The Chiefs capitalized on Post 211 miscues by scoring one run on a wild pitch and one run on an error in the third inning. A two-run single from Bryn Price and an RBI on a sacrfice fly from Kyle Floyd capped the five-run third.

Dalton McFarland threw five shutout innings for the win.
