LETTER: Why have others wanted to come to America?

Since my last effort to “save the country from Socialism,” some of my “Pollyanna” friends have taken me to task form my “undue pessimism.”

Perhaps.

But how else can we describe a government of duly elected officials that assume the authority to subvert the taxes taken from the workers of the country, give it to so-called private industry, and take in return a partial ownership in said industry (or bank or insurance company, or whatever) and then proceed to demand that its corporate management leadership be “fired” and another of its choosing be installed?

And if this “gimmick” still doesn’t cure the problem or “cut the mustard,” what is the next logical step? Why to throw still more public money at it and assume total control. At that point it really won’t make much difference for its continued operation will be successful because its losses will still be subsidized by the people it serves. Fair enough, isn’t it? (How easy it would be to nationalize our banks!!!)

Is there a benighted inhabitant of far away Timbuktu who has not as yet been inculcated with the certain knowledge espoused by Mr. Gore that unless he is willing to turn “green” he will surely “swim with the fishes?”

But I digress. We can easily dispose of “global warming.” All we have to do is buy and sell permits to pollute, which the Government will produce out of thin air and sell to “polluters” such as electrical generators. When the price gets high enough, there will be no pollution because the cost of generating electricity will be beyond our reach and we will once again, a la Abe Lincoln, read our books by the light of a fireplace!

I exaggerate, of course, but you get the picture, do you not? (And our politicians will have “oodles” more to spend!) (But remember this is not a tax!) It’s for your own good!

My suggestion. Study those nations of the world whose peoples are ruled by any other form of nationalized government than the type of government which we have enjoyed for centuries and ask yourself the question: I wonder why all those people want to come to America?”

Nuff said!

Good point. While kamfong may be correct about blowing stuff up, I suggest that it is possible they want to continue to devour our handouts until they devastate our entire nation causing the same ruination they are accustomed to. The old addage, "misery loves company" comes to mind. Of course, the miserable are unable to recognize their misery and feel completely justified in "guaming" the sh*t out of us.
ps- don't know if I spelled 'guaming' correctly...whatever. "

They believe the south western states belong to Mexico and are aggressively seeking control of those states. Sounds crazy but it really is happening. They threaten people (typically Mexican-Americans) by telling them they will harm them if they continue to speak English. Not kidding. They have also caused a lot of chaos in southern California by stabbing a government worker in the chest with the wooden stick from a hand held flag...Mexican flag. This gang teaches their children that we, Americans, are their enemy and that our flag is a hostile symbol to them....and they live here...illegally...but they are still here and protesting and creating hatred for Americans. I guess 7x (OK if I call you that for 'short'?) has forgotten past history.
Remember after the Gulf War George the Ist urged Iranians, particularly the Kurds to revolt against Saddam. They did, and Saddam attacked them bitterly. People were fleeing, dying,
starving ... you saw them on TV.
Where was George Ist?? Reporters caught him on the golf course and tried to ask him questions about why HE had not supported the Kurds after urging them to revolt? His only answer was, "Boys I've got a tee time to meet".
And so a guy who can't remember history and has nothing better to do attacks Obama for eating ice cream?
Did Obama urge the people to revolt?? He did not.
Did George urge the people to revolt??
He did -- and then pixxed on them....
But 7x ignores the comparison, desperate for an opportunity to attack the president. Another "historian" who graduated from high school with a major in cheerleading....... "

Hitchens smacks Obama over Iran

"There is then the larger question of the Iranian theocracy and its continual, arrogant intervention in our affairs: its export of violence and cruelty and lies to Lebanon and Palestine and Iraq and its unashamed defiance of the United Nations, the European Union, and the International Atomic Energy Agency on the nontrivial matter of nuclear weapons. I am sure that I was as impressed as anybody by our presidents decision to quote Martin Luther Kingrather late in the weekon the arc of justice and the way in which it eventually bends. It was just that in a time of crisis and urgency he was citing the wrong King text (the right one is to be found in the "Letter From a Birmingham Jail"), and it was also as if he were speaking as the president of Iceland or Uruguay rather than as president of these United States. Coexistence with a nuclearized, fascistic theocracy in Iran is impossible even in the short run. The mullahs understand this with perfect clarity. Why cant we?"

1996 The Bay of Camels -- CIA's biggest flop since Cuba. Urged on by President Clinton, CIA mounts an elaborate coup against Saddam Hussein. Iraqi exiles, armed and trained by CIA, to march on Baghdad from U.S./British ruled Kurdistan. CIA organizes a cabal of generals to assassinate Saddam. Public places in Baghdad are bombed, countless civilians are killed, in order to 'destabilize' Iraq (this while the U.S. is busy denouncing terrorism). But Saddam's spies have infiltrated the plot. The whole operation collapses. CIA's agent network in Iraq is rolled up. Many Kurds back Saddam, turn on pro-U.S. Kurds. CIA agents in Kurdistan run for their lives, abandoning allies and tons of documents. Saddam is strengthened. CIA's inept Director, John Deutch, fired for this Mother of All Fiascos. As usual, Clinton ducked the debacle and pretended he didn't know about it.
----------

I'm sure this was a mere oversight on your part, Cognitus. Will you let us know when criticism of King Obama is finally (if ever) acceptable, sir?

Thank you. "

Oh wow he was human and in shock like the rest of us. He should of jumped up said, "kids were under attack and your all going to die!" "Run for your lives!". Wait that's right he was told a plane had hit the trade towers and that it could have been an accident, not we were under attack. Then he left as soon as it was known what was going on, only after making a statement from the school. Question what did Clinton do the first time, the trade centers were bombed, or U.S. Embassies were bombed? Besides bomb and evil aspirin factory to get others to forget about his other matters. Why didn't he take Bin Laden the six, let me say it again, SIX times he was handed to him? That's right had to worry about that legacy. What is Obama doing about Iran, or North Korea, besides slapping their hands? I am not saying Bush always did everything right, far from it. Anyone who would say the man they support or supported did not screw up ever is living in a hole somewhere. Heck, Harry even you would say your guy now has not done everything right. Bush did what he thought was right at the time, just as Congress did, when okay the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan. No one seems to look to see how much Iraq's people are better off without Hussein. A man who killed thousands of his own people to see if his weapons worked. Who had women raped to death in his dungeons. A man who shot at American forces almost daily. A man who starved his own people. This is the guy you wanted left in Iraq? No one looks at how Afghanistan is a freer country without the Taliban. Who did similar things as Hussein.
