Children's fishing event planned at
Lake Shelbyville




SHELBYVILLE — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville will host a kid's fishing tournament for children 12 years of age or under on Saturday at the Opossum Creek Recreation Area at the pond near the entrance to the park.

The tournament is free and registration will be from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. Fishing for the tournament will be from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. The tournament will be limited to bank fishing only. Participants must provide their own fishing equipment, tackle and bait, and must be accompanied by an adult. All participants will be required to wear a life jacket. Categories include first fish, biggest fish, most fish, smallest fish and last fish caught. Prizes will be presented to the winners in each category, and everyone will receive a certificate for participating.
