LLC karate Tae Kwon Do instructor, students earn top honors



MATTOON — Lake Land College karate/Tae Kwon Do instructor and fourth-degree black belt Kevin Roberts and students Jessie Roberts and Brittany Luster received top-place finishes in two recent tournaments.

The tournaments were held on March 28 in Springfield, and on April 4 in Metamora.

In Springfield instructor Roberts won first-place and second-place medals at the Tae Kwon Do Championship. Jessie Roberts won two firstplace medals.

In Metamora, Jessie won first- and second-place medals, while Luster won two second-place medals at the Open Karate Championship.

Roberts also won a thirdplace medal at the competition.

The LLC Office of Community and Professional Programs will offer courses titled Karate Tae Kwon Do, for ages 6 to adult and Tae Kwon Do Advanced, for students with six months prior training and a green belt.

Karate Tae Kwon Do classes will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays from June 8 to Aug. 6. Tae Kwon Do Advanced class will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays from June 9 to Aug. 4. Classes will cost $83.50.

The course code for Tae Kwon Do is CE-SPRT 106-14907 and Tae Kwon Do Advanced is CE-RECR202-14913.

The drop date for a refund is five business days prior to the start of the class, excluding Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the summer.
