Lake Land board may raise tuition and fees

MATTOON -- Lake Land College leaders will consider another tuition and fee increase during a meeting tonight (April 13).

The college has worked over the last few years to reduce these increases, officials said, but each time has cited shrinking revenue from different sources as a factor. In April 2008, the board approved a $5-per-credit-hour hike, which, added to fee increases, cost full-time students about $90 more per semester this academic year.

The Lake Land board meets at 6 p.m. today in Room 081 of Webb Hall.

In other business, the trustees will consider a number of grant programs, including one for agricultural science teachers. An education agreement with Millikin University will be considered. The board is also expected to act on some policy revisions concerning employee family and medical leave as well as vacations.

In addition, certification of the student government election will lead to a changeover for the student trustee position. The board members will discuss litigation and appointment, employment, compensation and other items during a closed session.
