Hilltop has new administrator, director of nursing

CHARLESTON — Hilltop Convalescent Center is under new leadership following the promotion of its previous administrator, Lonnie Nichols, to Nursing Home Manager’s director of reimbursement.

Nichols continues to work directly with all five NHM facilities, including Hilltop.

Donna Coad is Hilltop’s new administrator, bringing with her 27 years of experience in health care. Most recently, she worked at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney for 17 years. She also worked at the Jasper County Health Department and at the Newton REst Haven Nursing Home.

Cord has a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Greenville College and has been a licensed nursing home administrator since 2006. She started at Hilltop on Jan. 12.

Vicki Gress is the new director of nursing at Hilltop, bringing with her a solid background in nursing and long-term care. She most recently worked at Mason Point Nursing Facility in Sullivan, and previously worked at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation in Effingham and for Lincoln Land Home Care.

Gress has been a traveling nurse and holds an RN from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Joliet. She also has undergraduate education in management of health care professionals from Nova University in Davie, Fla.

Gress is MDS certified through the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators and stared at Hilltop on Feb. 9.
