Former UMC pastor returns to speak at Sunday services

CHARLESTON — The Rev. Terry L. Clark will be the guest preacher at Wesley United Methodist Church at both the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. worship services on Sunday.

Rev. Clark was the pastor at Wesley UMC from July 1, 1986, to June 30, 1994. He is an Illinois native, born in Galesburg, and raised in Trenton. He received a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1968 and graduated magna cum laude.

In 1971 he received a master of divinity degree from Vanderbilt Divinity School and has completed additional graduate studies in marriage and family at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.

He was ordained elder in 1972, and became a retired full member of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference in July 2008.

Since seminary Rev. Clark has been pastor in seven local churches that have ranged in membership from 100 to 1,000. He has served as a conference superintendent and the director of connectional ministries in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference.

Wesley UMC is located at 2206 Fourth St. in Charleston, on the edge of the EIU campus. A staffed nursery is available throughout the morning.

Fellowship time is at 9:30 a.m.; Sunday School for all ages is held at 9:40 a.m. Overflow parking is available in the adjoining EIU lot to the north of the church.
