LETTER: Radio-TV dials stop before Rush's frequency

MARY O'NEILL, Charleston

I’m writing in reference to Ellen Goodman’s column on Rush Limbaugh. I could not believe the audacity of this man to say, “He hopes Obama’s economic plan fails.”

This shows the kind of person he is. He doesn’t care if the economy recovers, but is only interested in his own programs ratings.

His question of “why don’t women like me?,” I can only answer with one woman’s opinion.

He is an insensitive, self-centered, pompous, arrogant, wind-bag! That’s why only 26 percent of women make up his audience.

Maybe if he stopped referring to some women as “neo-nazi liberals” he would gain ratings.

This is the kind of gibberish he puts out over the air waves.

Well, my TV and radio say no to Rush Limbaugh.

MARY O’NEILL

Charleston

Yeah, I'll bet that's what is happening here. Nice try, Mary, but I'm not taking the bait. "

Well lady maybe if you would had listen to the whole speech you wouldn't be putting in just a few snippets like the Republicans did to rev wright to try to defame someone. He really dosen't need anymore ratings as most intelligent people know he has over twenty million listeners nation wide.As far as the other comment you made--- He is an insensitive, self-centered, pompous, arrogant, wind-bag!
I think your problably right, but a rich one at that and I really don't think he cares what you might think. "

" Let's see now,

According to Mary O'Neill, Rush opposes The Messiah's Non-Stimulus Economically-Cancerous Porkulus-Fraud for the sake of ratings and not as a matter of principle?

AND THAT'S BAD!

However:

Rush SHOULD kiss up to the misguided and profoundly ignorant MARY O'NEILLS of this country (who by the way sounds an awful lot like a Femi-Nazi Liberal Obama-Sycophant) FOR the pure sake of ratings.

AND THAT'S GOOD!

But, but, but..... Mary.

You Lib-Nazi's just spent the last eight years convincing the rest of us that DISSENT is the absolute highest form of patriotism!

*psssst.... hey.... mary? did your definition of "patriotism" happen to change in january?* "

Well of course not, Mary.

You would only tune into Rush if....... he stopped being Rush.

In other news, Mary O'Neill feels that water should stop being so gosh darned WET! "

" Limbaugh was not saying that he wished our country failed. He was stating that he wanted socialism to fail. We have an economic recession now and people are suffering. The administration has stated that they shouldn't "waste a good crisis" and are using it to pass their social programs and pork spending. Only about 20% of the stimulus bill will take effect during the next few years and the rest of it is full of pork and social agenda spending. How will this help us now?

Obama blatantly lied during his campaign about eliminating earmarks, bipartisanship, and cutting wasteful spending in the budget. Listen to Warren Buffet and Jack Welch, he needs to focus on the problem at hand, and now is not the time to push through more spending on health care and funding abortions and stem cell research and crippling the economy with more taxes to pay for it all.

No other administration has ever paid any attention to political commentators and entertainers before. They are just trying to focus our attention away from them while they rack up more debt than any administration in history. "

" "What's a life worth? Apparently not much in Great Britain. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, the government agency that decides which treatments the National Health Service will pay for, has effectively banned Lapatinib, a drug that was shown to slow the progression of breast cancer, and Sutent, which is the only medicine that can prolong the lives of some stomach cancer patients. Banning beneficial drugs due to cost is nothing new in Britain. NICE, which has to be one of history's most ironic acronyms, forbade the use of Tarceva, a lung cancer drug proven to extend patients' lives, and Abatacept, even though it's one of the only drugs that has been shown in clinical testing to improve severe rheumatoid arthritis. Once again, we have to ask: Do we really want to use the British system as the model for a U.S. health care regime? Promises of an effective, cost-effective health care system operated by the federal government are cruel fabrications. The British system shows that the state makes a mess of health care. So does the Canadian plan, which is plagued with unhealthy and often deadly waiting times for treatment. The Swedish government system is no better. It also refuses to provide some expensive medication and, inhumanely, refuses to let patients buy the drugs themselves. Why? According to a Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons article, bureaucrats believe doing so 'would set a bad precedent and lead to unequal access to medicine.' Like Canadians, Swedes are subjected to long waits. They also have denial-of-care problems that sometimes lead to death. A reasonable person would see the record of repeated failures in government-run medicine as evidence that such a system is not sustainable. Yet every central planner thinks he or she -- or his or her immediate group -- is smart enough to correct the flaws of socialist programs and therefore has the moral authority to force others to participate in his experiments. It is the same thinking that will move a person to say we are the ones we've been waiting for." --Investor's Business Daily "

from the web

On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, just minutes before learning of the terrorist attacks on America, Democratic strategist James Carville was hoping for President Bush to fail, telling a group of Washington reporters: I certainly hope he doesnt succeed.

Minutes later, as news of the terrorist attacks reached the hotel conference room where the Democrats were having breakfast with the reporters, Carville announced: Disregard everything we just said! This changes everything!

The press followed Carvilles orders, never reporting his or Greenbergs desire for Bush to fail. The omission was understandable at first, as reporters were consumed with chronicling the new war on terror. But months and even years later, the mainstream media chose to never resurrect those controversial sentiments, voiced by the Democratic Partys top strategists, that Bush should fail"

The left has been making a HUGE ordeal about an out of context quote from Limbaugh, but forget to mention this little tidbit. This is not even counting the 2006 poll, in which 51% of Democrats said they hoped that Bush fails. Must be nice to have the media in your pocket. "

Britisn Prime Minister Gordon Browns trip to America this week was no different, and he brought along some goodies. Specifically, Brown presented the Prez with a pen holder constructed from wood used in the Victorian era anti-slave ship HMS Gannet. But that wasnt all: according to the Daily Mail, Obama also received the ships certificate, a first edition biography of Winston Churchill and an assortment of high-value toys for his children.

So what did Gordon get in return? For his sake, we hope he really, really enjoyed Star Wars. Thats because Obama gave his English counterpart a basket containing 25 American films, ranging from E.T. to Some Like It Hot. Its worth noting that American DVDs (known as Region 1) wont play on British DVD players (known as Region 2), so we hope they brought along the PAL versions. For a full list of films now in possession by the Gordon household, head after the jump.

" PANICKY DEMOCRATS WARN OBAMA: THE HONEYMOON'S ENDING

THE HILL (March 11 2009) President Obamas honeymoon is beginning to fade.

Members of Congress and old political hands say he needs to show substantial progress reviving the economy soon.

Some Democrats have started to worry that voters dont and wont understand the link between economic revival and Obamas huge agenda, which includes saving the banking industry, ending home foreclosures, reforming healthcare and developing a national energy policy, among much else.

While lawmakers debate controversial proposals contained in the new presidents debut budget cutting farm subsidies, raising taxes on charitable contributions, etc. there is a growing sense that time is running out faster than expected.

++++++++

Translation: People are quickly realizing that Obama is a charlatan. And more and more people are beginning to see that Porkulus will stimulate nothing other than more bloated and corrupt permanent bureaucracies feeding on the pocket-book of the already over-taxed working class. "

Absolutely. And we can do it with more honesty and integrity than the Anti-War Liberals like you who apparently have no problem with combat troops remaining in Iraq well into 2011, and beyond.

Our Dissent:

The MISSION is to revive the economy. The American tax-payers are the TROOPS.

WE the troops are dissenting against the tactics, NOT the mission. And we know Porkulus won't work because Keynesian economics have never worked.

Oh and, Porkulus II is already in the works and we don't even have the option of cut and run. "

" Rep. Brad Sherman, a Democrat from California, has been a leading critic of his party leadership's response to the banking crisis. Over the past month, however, he's been aiming for a new target: Rush Limbaugh.

Except Rush won't play along. In early February, before Limbaugh had become the public face of the GOP, Sherman began making attempts to arrange a debate on Rush's popular radio show, his office said. When Sherman got no response, he sent Rush a letter.

"If you had any confidence in your position, you would agree to my request to have me on your show--where I'm sure I could demonstrate the merits of my views," he wrote.

"You are a coward," he assessed. "Very truly yours, Brad Sherman."

Limbaugh has yet to respond, said a spokesman for Sherman. Limbaugh's producer, Kit Carson, told the Huffington Post he hadn't seen the letter, but that he couldn't speak for Limbaugh. The radio talk-show host, who Democrats portray as the leader of the GOP, is taking the next two days off, said Carson, and will return Monday.

Huffington post-

There is no way the sumo wrestler looking Limbaugh would agree to debate this guy. His calls to debate Obama were just a show. He knew Obama was not about to debate a two bit huckster like himself, so he could could crow all day long and be safe.

The question now is, does old flabby have the guts to debate this congressman. I say he won't. There's is a reason he won't take guests on his show and rarely does an intelligent caller get through to him on his radio show.

This bloated gasbag is only comfortable talking to groups like the right wingers he spoke to last week end. There he can huff and puff and jump up and down waving his flabby arms knowing the drooling crowd will eat it up.

It's that simple. " The same guy who gave us the "thrill up the leg" quote also swooned and drooled over Bush in his GI Joe flyboy playsuit, Edward. You remember, when Bush pranced and minced around in his costume in front of that big sign that announced "Mission Accomplished!" in Iraq? Chris Matthews kisses the backside of whoever's in power.
Bush and the Republicans waged a long campaign against journalism -- denouncing it, infiltrating it, faking it, extorting it, distorting it, planting prostitutes in it and telling every manner of lie about it.

Spring-boarding off right-wing radio ranting, in 1996 a propaganda TV news channel, Fox News, became the Pravda of the Bush White House.
Even Bush Press Secretary Scott McClellan admitted that corporate media reporters had willingly rolled over for the Bush lies that caused war.
The rescue of Private Jessica, the "enemy attack" slaying of Pat Tillman, the fall of Saddams statue, the WDMs all were lies planted by the Bush administration.
To fake news, they added fake journalists.
They bribed columnists. Local TV stations aired propaganda generated by Bush PR hacks, pretending it had been prepared by real reporters.
The $200-an-hour male prostitute "Jeff Gannon," a/k/a James Guckert, was able to get daily access to the White House press briefings for two years while working for a hack right-wing news service. And this is what conservatives are pleased to call the liberal news media, while laughing up their sleeves.
The real mission of the corporate media is to reassure the public about the benevolence of corporate-welfare capitalism -- which just crashed worldwide -- and to justify both inequality and the overwhelmingly dominant role of the corporation as the provider of all income and benefits. "

"corporate media reporters had willingly rolled over for the Bush lies that caused war.
The rescue of Private Jessica, the "enemy attack" slaying of Pat Tillman, the fall of Saddams statue..."

Yes the media jumped on the "feel good" stories initially in the war, but when it was shown that army was less than truthful about these events, the media turned on them like rabid dogs. Please, don't expect anyone to believe that the majority of the war reporting was candy coated or even had a positive slant to it. You know the opposite is true.

"They bribed columnists. Local TV stations aired propaganda generated by Bush PR hacks, pretending it had been prepared by real reporters."

This sounds like a personal opinion to me.

"The real mission of the corporate media is to reassure the public about the benevolence of corporate-welfare capitalism -- which just crashed worldwide -- and to justify both inequality and the overwhelmingly dominant role of the corporation as the provider of all income and benefits. "

That's a good one. Anyone else want to pipe up and claim the media is treating the big corporations with kid gloves now? They are pretty much being made the poster children for this whole mess. Some of it is deserved, but the left is using this for their continuing class warfare campaign, in which they try to justify crippling tax hikes to pay for their pork projects and social programs. None of which will have anything but a negative impact on the economy. "

The point made was that eliminating earmarks, wasteful spending, and transparency were key points of Obama's campaign. USA Today reported that the Bush administration paid (or more accurately bribed) syndicated columnist Armstrong Williams to produce positive press about the president's chief education reform legislation, No Child Left Behind. The payola scheme cost taxpayers $240,000.
And dozens of American television stations broadcast items produced by the Bush administration and major corporations, and passed them off as normal news reporting by their own staffs. Some of the fake news segments talked up success in the war in Iraq, or promoted the companies' products.
The Federal Communications Commission investigated stations across the country after a report produced by a campaign group detailed the extraordinary extent of the use of such items.
The report, by the non-profit group Center for Media and Democracy, found that over a 10-month period at least 77 television stations were making use of the faux news broadcasts, known as Video News Releases (VNRs). Not one told viewers who had produced the items.

About half of China's estimated $2 trillion of foreign exchange reserves, the largest in the world, are invested in U.S. Treasury and other government-backed bonds. China's continued holdings and future purchases of American debt are considered an important part of financing for Obama's $787-billion economic stimulus plan.

In a visit to China last month, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton sought to assure Beijing that U.S. debt remained a reliable investment. But some Chinese scholars have called for more investments in natural resources and other commodities and less in U.S. financial instruments, which they view as more susceptible to large losses because of the risks of a fall in the dollar or rising inflation should Washington print more money to support its spending."

YAYYY!!!! Obama has saved us! The market was up a few up days and we can thank our savior for fixing the economy.

Well, guess what. The economy will eventually turn around. It always does. Many economists have said that the best "stimulus" was an inadvertent result of the recession. Fuel prices were halved and that in itself injected billions of spending money into the economy. The TRILLIONS in deficit spending to "jump start" the economy, however, will have negative ramifications for generations, by weakening our dollar and indebting our children to the Chinese. A very small percentage of the money spent was even "stimulating" to anything and was just unnecessary social programs that will handcuff administrations for years to come. No Child Left Behind was a BI-PARTISAN EFFORT in the spirit of Bush's "compassionate conservatism" i.e. Liberal Policies.

In fact read this:

Bill Clinton Blames Kennedy for No Child Left Behind Flaws

ABCNews (Feb 1 2008) "The President made a deal with Senator Kennedy and neither one of them meant to mess it up," Bill Clinton told a crowd of about 400 teachers and students in Texarkana.

"I want you to think about this, and I have to say, this was a train wreck that was not intended. No Child Left Behind was supported by George Bush and Senator Ted Kennedy and everybody in between. Why? Because they didn't talk to enough teachers before they did that," Clinton said yesterday at Arizona State University, according to the Associated Press.

But today marks the first time the former president seemed to blame Kennedy for the bill.

In 2001, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., voted for the No Child Left Behind Act, but has since said it was mismanaged and should be replaced.

" (The Question - "The report, by the non-profit group Center for Media and Democracy......")

Here's what The Drama Queen's NOT telling you Ed.

From Activistcash.com

The Center for Media & Democracy (CMD)
is a counterculture public relations effort disguised as an independent media organization. CMD isnt really a center it would be more accurate to call it a partnership, since it is essentially a two-person operation.

Sheldon Rampton and John Stauber operate, as do most self-anointed progressive watchdogs, from the presumption that any communication issued from a corporate headquarters must be viewed with a jaundiced eye. In their own quarterly PR Watch newsletter, they recently referred to corporate PR as a propaganda industry, misleading citizens and manipulating minds in the service of special interests. Ironically, Rampton and Stauber have elected to dip into the deep pockets of multi-million-dollar foundations with special interest agendas of their own.

Their books Mad Cow U.S.A. and Toxic Sludge Is Good for You! were produced and promoted using grant monies from the Foundation for Deep Ecology ($25,000) and the Education Foundation of America ($20,000), among others. Along with the more recent Trust Us: Were Experts, these books are scare-mongering tales about a corporate culture out of control, and each implies that the public needs rescuing. Guess who the heroes in this fantasy are?

Despite his wild claims that federal agencies have covered up U.S. mad cow disease cases, John Stauber has become a quotable celebrity on the subject. In 1997, at the height of the initial mad-cow panic, a CMD press release warned: Evidence suggests there may already be a mad-cow-type of disease infecting both U.S. pigs and cattle. Rampton and Stauber have never provided any documentation to back up this reckless claim; no cases of mad-cow disease have ever been documented in U.S. livestock. John Stauber was one of only four mad-cow experts offered to reporters by Fenton Communications media arm, Environmental Media Services.

Motivation

As the liberal Village Voice commented in April 2001, "These guys come from the far side of liberal." Seen through this dynamic duo's socialist lens, societys major problems are capitalism in general and corporations in particular. If someone in a shirt and tie dares make a profit (especially if food or chemicals are involved), Rampton and Stauber are bound to have a problem with it. Unless, of course, that food is vegetarian, organic, certified fair-trade, shade-grown, biodynamic, or biotech-free in which case, the skys the limit!

Blackeye

Rampton and Staubers latest book (Trust Us, Were Experts! ) was delivered to the media with a slick press kit, citing favorable reviews from media experts. The packet also included a prewritten list of questions for reporters to ask when interviewing the authors. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel blew the whistle, though, noting that "a somewhat sheepish Stauber" offered the following feeble excuse: "What you see is a true PR campaign around our book. This is how book publishing is done. I think its bad. I hate it."

First of all Rohn, I've never "beaten" you up in here (that I can ever recall) and I have no reason to start now.

Secondly, LLC is NOT some holy sacred temple in this community. It provides a valuable service, but it also eats our tax dollars at an alarming (and often) unjustified rate.

Criticism of LLC should never be squelched in here, and people should never be afraid to voice their opinion over the use of their tax dollars.

When I refer to LLC in a condescending manner, it's mainly for "stirring things up".

Remember how everyone supposedly loves that, Rohn?

Agree, disagree, read me, skip over me, whatever.

Throwing our tax money at a problem in a panic, with no oversight as to how it is spent, is unforgivable. We don't know the whole story on the bonuses. Many of them are contractual and probably considered salary by those that receive them. The actual bonus money is only like one tenth of one percent of the stimulus money anyway and probably would have contributed more to "stimulating" the economy. Don't forget, something like 20 billion of AIG's bailout went to foreign banks as well. Once again, the congress is playing the class warfare card and insinuating the money is going rich guys with fleets of private jets. One boneheaded senator even suggested the AIG execs should be honorable and resign or commit suicide.

The Federal Government has no one else to blame for irresponsibly throwing money at problems with no consideration as to how to best utilize it beforehand. We have no one else to blame for reelecting the same irresponsible clowns every year because of party loyalty. "

The government KNEW about the bonuses when they gave them the money. It's not all AIG's fault. It's just another example of class warfare trying to distract us from the real issues. AIG was contractually obligated to give out that money. I'm not saying they deserved it, but now that the US taxpayers practically own AIG, the employees can sue for their bonuses and probably win. This is what Congress gets for blindly throwing our money at any problem without any foresight or planning as to how it should be spent. "

Like you Rohn, I have no idea as to the accuracy, but even if they are somewhat skewed, the numbers show a very serious problem for the military. " In recent weeks, my friends across the aisle have expended a lot of breath proclaiming that the Democrats caused the present financial crisis by failing to pass legislation to regulate financial services companies in the years 1995 through 2006.

There is only small one problem with this story -- throughout this entire period the Republicans were in complete charge of the House and for the most critical years they controlled the House, the Senate, and the Presidency.

In the House of Representatives, the majority party has almost unlimited power over the minority party. The majority party owns the committee chairmanships; it controls what bills come to a vote; and it is under no obligation to consider the ideas of the beleaguered minority. When the Republicans were in the majority they ruled with an iron first; it is no accident that Tom DeLay was known as "The Hammer."

That is why I find it particularly flattering the Republicans now claim that in the years 1995 to 2006 I personally possessed supernatural powers which enabled me to force mighty Republican leaders to do my bidding. Choose your comic book hero -- I was all of them.

Both parties need to look at what went wrong, but more importantly, need to get things back on track responsibly.

As far as your 6:35pm post, your buddy TQ beat you on that little tidbit of info by about four hours. Anyway, do you really want the government opening a can of worms on setting pay caps? Half of the congress are in bed with these guys anyway, and what about the billions going to foreign banks? Executive pay and compensation should be decided by the stockholders of the company. The government is just trying to direct public anger at the CEO's and not where it belongs, which is at congress for giving billions of tax dollars away with no oversight. "
