Registration taken for Tarble workshops

CHARLESTON — Registration is being taken for two workshops offered in March and April at the Tarble Arts Center, Eastern Illinois University.

“Surface Design—Paint & Pattern for Cloth” for ages 12 and over is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. March 28. Students will learn how to do simple shibori, stamping, discharge dyeing, and direct paint application on all types of cloth, creating a one-of-a-kind textile piece.

“Commemorative Jewelry” for ages 15 and over will be offered April 3-4. The workshop is an introduction to metalworking, focusing on the use of simple hand tools and “cold connections” (no heat required) to create a piece of commemorative jewelry, such as a locket, brooch or pendant.

Both workshops are designed for all skill levels. For more information, contact the Tarble Arts Center at 581-2787 or tarble@eiu.edu.
