Local missionaries to speak Sunday at First Assembly

MATTOON — Jeremy and Ashley West, full-time missionaries with Book of Hope International, will be guest speakers at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at First Assembly, 900 Dewitt Ave. East, Mattoon.

The Wests originate from Mattoon, and now are stationed in Bangkok, Thailand. They helping start a base that will train and mobilize Thais and foreign teams to do outreach in Thailand.

The couple currently are learning the Thai language and helping develop new outreach strategies to reach the children and teenagers.

Book of Hope’s mission is to reach the next generation by placing the Word of God in every child’s hand around the world. More than 550,000 children and teenagers in Thailand were given a copy of God’s Word in 2008.

Through video, music and spoken word, the Wests will present a look at how Americans can impact so many lives all around the world.
