SPOTLIGHT: TIM WILSON

Brian Nielsen: Congratulations on your tournament championship. How did that affect your New Year’s?

Tim Wilson: Great. It was pretty much all we talked about for a while. We had a party at one my friend’s house and we watched the game film.

BN: Where does this fit among your sports memories?

TW: It’s probably one of our best ones. Last time we did this well I was a sophomore and didn’t really play that much.

BN: What would you say is your best sports moment?

TW: Probably when I hit a home run in the eighth inning against Tri-County to win the game.

BN: You are averaging 18 points so far this season after 10 last season. What has been the difference?

TW: I practiced a lot and ran. (Assistant) coach (J.J.) Carter put the non-football players through a lot of training and weights.

BN: What’s the best part of your game?

TW: Usually, I can shoot the three but in the tournament I struggled. I got to the rim a little better and got to the free throw line a little better.

BN: What would you call your weakness?

TW: Before, it was probably getting to the lane. I need to get to the free-throw line a little more.

BN: You’ve probably been told your dad was quite a coach? Do you even remember when he was doing that?

TW: I can kind of remember going to some of his games but I was pretty young. When they were really good I think I was three.

BN: What kind of influence is he on your sports career?

TW: He gives me little tips here and there. He says a lot more to my brother and just lets me play.

BN: Your brother Marcus plays baseball at Delta State. Who is the better athlete?

TW: Me. No, I’m just kidding. He can still beat me in basketball. I give a better fight than I used to though.

BN: What is your best sport?

TW: I don’t know. Baseball and basketball are pretty even.

BN: Do you want to play in college?

TW: Yeah, I probably have a better chance in baseball. There are few coaches talking to me now.

BN: What school are you considering?

TW: Illinois College, MacMurray and Lake Land.

BN: What else is in your future plans?

TW: Go to school, hopefully play baseball and get a degree. Probably in business somewhere..

BN: Last thing. Do you have a prediction for the college football championship game?

TW: Sooners by seven points in overtime. I guess it could be six points.
