Charleston firefighters spread Christmas cheer at Camp New Hope

CHARLESTON — The Charleston firefighters delivered two boxes of gifts and a check for $1,500 to Camp New Hope Inc.

The funds were used for the Christmas party for developmentally disabled campers, which has become a holiday tradition.

Several of the firefighters attended the party as volunteers to help serve the catered dinner, assist with the games and act as Santa’s helpers to distribute gifts.

Camp New Hope is a non-profit organization that has a summer camp, an overnight respite program, a bowling league, and plans year-round events for people who have developmental disabilities and their families.

Those interested in camp programs are encouraged to call 895-2341 or see the Web site at www.myfavoritecamp.org.
