Jennings achieves leadership certification

EFFINGHAM — Ryan Jennings, M.D., recently achieved certification as a Certified Medical Staff Leader from the Greeley Medical Staff Institute, according to a press release from St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital.

To achieve this honor, Jennings had to complete 28 hours of CME credits on courses offered by the institute on topics ranging from the structure and function of a medical staff, to conflict resolution and patient safety issues. Following the coursework, Jennings had to complete and pass a certifying exam.

The Medical Staff Leadership Certification Program was created by the Greeley Medical Staff Institute to provide physician leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in medical staff leadership roles. Jennings currently serves as vice president of the St. Anthony’s Medical Executive Committee.

“We have an outstanding medical staff that is large enough to have the same problems as very large institutions, but physicians do not have formal training in how to effectively manage a medical staff,” Jennings said. “By completing training in leadership and administrative skills, the hospital administration and medical staff can work together to develop an outstanding medical staff that provides efficient and excellent care within the hospital.”

Jennings is a medical staff member at St. Anthony’s. For more information about St. Anthony’s, visit the hospital’s Web site at www.stanthonyshospital.org.
