LETTER: Politicians need some deterrent

News came out (last week) that the “Chicago” governor has been arrested on a number of charges. It is amazing that this will probably be another political official possibly going to spend some time in the “Federal Hilton Penitentiary.” I find it hard to understand why government officials (those who are supposed to be working for us) allegedly try to benefit from their position? When and if they are convicted why are they allowed to spend time in a Federal Hotel to serve their time? I guess they are afraid that they may be treated like other inmates (what a shame). Someday, sometime there has to be some deterrent for governmental abuse or the financial abuse of their positions.

Now comes the time to address Durbin trying to get President Bush to commute George Ryan’s sentence to time served. If this isn’t a miscarriage of justice I don’t know what is. I don’t know what Durbin is thinking but it seems to be kind of a cloudy judgment. Maybe it is time for Durbin to step down also? Seems that his judgment has went the wrong way?

Now that I have made my point (my opinion, which all have one), I want to forget about the above paragraphs for the time being. I am confident that the final justice will be when the Lord makes his return. You can find the answer in Romans 14:11.
