LETTER: Presidential election is over and done with

It’s funny how some say Obama is already calling on all the experts to help him out. Would you prefer he call on all the non-experts? According to you he has no experience so why not get the best he can find, besides look where all this wonderful experience has gotten us.

Maybe you should check out your own candidate for a change. You complain about ACORN in which Mr. McCain himself was more than happy to give a keynote speech for in 2006. You fuss about your guns in which you will still have at the end of Obama’s term.

You’re worried about Bill Ayers, how about McCain’s past connections to a private group that supplied aid to guerrillas in the Iran-Contra affair.

Must we not forget about the Keating Five savings and loan scandal in which McCain was involved? Or how about his son Andrew who resigned from the Silver State Bank in July after being accused of corruption (like father like son).

In McCain’s second debate he said he could fix Social Security. Why hasn’t he made it happen yet, he’s been in the Senate long enough. If he’s so “experienced” he should be able to, right? As you can see, your candidate and the people he surrounds himself with aren’t exactly perfect either, and I won’t even start on Sarah.

Yes, Obama is going to spend a lot of money, but this economic situation can’t fix itself.

If we can spend 10 billion per month in Iraq, then we can here as well. On the subject of taxes, I wouldn’t exactly say Barack has it out for the rich but I’m sorry, if you are fortunate to make over $250,000 and can’t afford a 3 percent tax increase like under the Clinton administration, then I guess you will have to cut back like the rest of us.

So Mr. Stevens, if you want to call all of us that voted for Barack gullible then I guess I would call all of those still complaining, sore losers. It’s done and over with and there is nothing that can be done about it.

It frightens me that all this hate is embedded in your brains but this man has a right to prove himself and if he fails, well we’ve already had several years of that.

I've heard more intelligent exchanges of ideas in a kindergarten playground fight!

Who cares who McCain talked to in 2006? Who cares who OBAMA talked to in 2006? Guns, Bill Ayres, guns and Iran-Contra (wasn't that 1980's?), the Keating Five, McCain's son. Who the heck cares?????????

Let's get some freaking SOLUTIONS and stop the darned back and forth! The election is over. My candidate LOST! Let's move forward! "

He's reinstated the Clinton Administration, AFTER he criticized several of that Administrations policies during the primaries. He named Hillary as his Secretary of State AFTER he belittled her foreign policy credentials during the primaries.

He's reneged on his promise to hit the Big Oil companies with a windfall profit tax. And he is beyond ambiguous if not outright cryptic about troop withdraw in Iraq.

And this is all within the last couple of weeks. I can't imagine the next four years.

I too wonder why Obama is picking people from the Clinton Admin., when his whole campaign was about change.
I also heard today that Senator Dodd wanted the CEO of GM to resign to show good faith or something like that before our Government gave them any money. Did Dodd make the same request for the other people they have been handing Billions too? How about Dodd and Franks resigning and giving up their paychecks and pensions for running Fannie and Freddie into the ground. This alone would save us taxpayers around $400,000 a year. Even better, why don't our polititians lead by example and give up their paychecks or work for $1.00 for one year? and while their at it, why not give up their retirement package they voted for themselves back in the 80's and draw Social Security when they retire or get voted out of office? This would save us taxpayers some $100,000,000.00 a year or more. "

I don't care if BARACK Obama is green as long as he can run the country, as far as Clinton personell goes, when Clinton was president, he left office with a surplus and many people working good jobs, the fact that he got a little on the side doesn't bother me all that much, was he any worse than JFK.

By the way, I believe his name is Barak, not Barry.

I like the insinuation that things were good under Clinton because of Reagan and his trickle down policies, yeah, right, by the way, if things were good under Clinton because of Reagan, where did Bush 1 fit in, wasn't he president right after Reagan?

Reagans legacy was, no union protection for federal workers and very dangerous flights for a few months.

Talk about someone with no clue, when Challenger exploded, he said, wasn't that the one with a teacher on board, or how about Bush 1's famous trip to the grocery store, when he saw a scanning cash register, he remarked that technology was really going places, what he didn't actually know was, scanning cash registers had been out for about10 or more years. There's a man that's really in touch with the people.

Obama, hopefully, will the first president that truely understands the people. As far as being the Anti-Christ goes, if I recall right, they daid the same thing about President Bush also. "

" Factcheck:

When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom's dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.'s children:

British Nationality Act of 1948 (Part II, Section 5): Subject to the provisions of this section, a person born after the commencement of this Act shall be a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies by descent if his father is a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies at the time of the birth.

In other words, at the time of his birth, Barack Obama Jr. was both a U.S. citizen (by virtue of being born in Hawaii) and a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies (or the UKC) by virtue of being born to a father who was a citizen of the UKC.

Obama's British citizenship was short-lived. On Dec. 12, 1963, Kenya formally gained its independence from the United Kingdom. Chapter VI, Section 87 of the Kenyan Constitution specifies that:

1. Every person who, having been born in Kenya, is on 11th December, 1963 a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies or a British protected person shall become a citizen of Kenya on 12th December, 1963...

2. Every person who, having been born outside Kenya, is on 11th December, 1963 a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies or a British protected person shall, if his father becomes, or would but for his death have become, a citizen of Kenya by virtue of subsection (1), become a citizen of Kenya on 12th December, 1963. Please re-read my initial comment carefully. I clearly stated "Who cares who McCain talked to in 2006? Who cares who OBAMA talked to in 2006?" I was pointing to BOTH sides of the issue with regard to the "who cares" comment. I only continued to cite the remaining list as quoting YOUR post.

You're right . . . I WAS complaining about it and it was much more recently than just a few months ago. What I was trying to get across was BOTH sides tend to answer charges with an "Oh yeah?" attitude. I apologize if I led you to believe it was all one-sided with me.

I'm sorry, bob but considering the tone and content of any number of your posts on any particular thread on any particular topic, I took you seriously. I really thought that you BELIEVED what you wrote - that it was all about race.

I know I use hyperbole occasionally myself and I think I'll stop because shumphreys didn't catch it in one of my most recent posts so I see it doesn't work for me.

But I believe even with hyperbole, my message is rather a consistent one. To talk about race, race, race, race, race and then to pull it back with a "riled up" statement is confusing. So I must ask . . . do you or do you NOT believe race is a major factor? I really don't care which side you take, but for God's sake - take a STAND on it and hang with it! "

Now its Obamas Cabinet moves that are drawing the most fire. Its not just that hes picked Clinton and Gates. Its that liberal Democrats say theyre hard-pressed to find one of their own on Obamas team so far particularly on the economic side, where people like Tim Geithner and Lawrence Summers are hardly viewed as pro-labor.

At his announcement of an economic team there was no secretary of labor. If you dont think the labor secretary is on the same level as treasury secretary, that gives me pause, said Jonathan Tasini, who runs the website workinglife.org. The president-elect wouldn't be president-elect without labor."

During the campaign Obama gained labor support by saying he favored legislation that would make it easier for unions to form inside companies. The card check bill would get rid of a secret-ballot method of voting to form a union and replace it with a system that would require companies to recognize unions simply if a majority of workers signed cards saying they want one. Obama still supports that legislation, aides say but union leaders are worried that he no longer talks it up much as president-elect.

P.S. Stop talking to kids in national parks Cogi. LOL!

Good times. Good Times. "

I'm afraid you missed the point Cognitus. I know you're an ObamaZombie and that comprehension of facts and analysis is next to impossible for you, but do try to follow along as best you can.

Here's the point:

From The New York Times

- That status-of-forces agreement remains subject to change, by mutual agreement, and Army planners acknowledge privately that they are examining projections that could see the number of Americans hovering between 30,000 and 50,000 and some say as high as 70,000 for a substantial time even beyond 2011

- There always was a tension, if not a bit of a contradiction, in the two parts of Mr. Obamas campaign platform to end the war by withdrawing all combat troops by May 2010. To be sure, Mr. Obama was careful to say that the drawdowns he was promising included only combat troops. But supporters who keyed on the language of ending the war might be forgiven if they thought that would mean bringing home all of the troops.

- Pentagon planners say that it is possible that Mr. Obamas goal could be accomplished at least in part by relabeling some units, so that those currently counted as combat troops could be re-missioned, their efforts redefined as training and support for the Iraqis...

the pledge of allegiance was a gimmick written to help with the sale of american flags as a school fundraiser. "one nation under god" wasn't even introduced to the pledge until years later.....after a lobby to the president to suggest it.

I'm not going to bother checking to see if you're correct or not - I'll just go ahead and assume you are - after all, you DO research a great deal of what you post and I think I can trust you on THIS one.

Okay, so the pledge was a gimmick to sell flags. I can handle that. And "One Nation Under God" wasn't introduced until years later. Okay. I'm cool with that, too.

But the fact remains that "One Nation Under God" was, in fact, added and has not been officially taken out yet (that I've heard of). That means it's still in there.

So whether the pledge was a gimmick or a Communist conspiracy, it makes no difference and whether the ONUG thing was added, amended onto it, revised to include it or attached with a paper clip makes absolutely no difference - it's still part of the pledge.

Ergo, your post was totally meaningless to the discussion. Now THERE'S a shock! "

Gov. Palin, to some extent, pushed the party more to the right, and I think she had something of a polarizing effect when she talked about how small town values are good. Well, most of us dont live in small towns. And I was raised in the South Bronx, and theres nothing wrong with my value system from the South Bronx.

And when they came to Virginia and said the southern part of Virginia is good and the northern part of Virginia is bad. The only problem with that is there are more votes in the northern part of Virginia than there are in the southern part of Virginia, so that doesnt work.

Powell also said that with the changing demographics of America, the Republican party needs to start listening to minority communities, rather than shouting at them with loaded statements and Republican principles and dogma.

" This is the state of internal GOP debates these days:

Mike Duncan, who is running for reelection as chair of the Republican National Convention, was apparently compelled by the Twitter feed of a young GOP strategist to erase a backdrop of his website that showcased an elite country club.

David All filed several posts on Thursday raising concerns that the backdrop of Duncan's website -- apparently a photo of the high-end Wisconsin Erin Hills Country Club -- sent the wrong type of political message.

"Mike Duncan using an elitist golf course as his background image is exactly what is wrong with the GOP. $160 green fees," read one tweet. "RNC Chairman Mike Duncan's background image: I believe it sends an elitist message," he wrote in another.

Later in the afternoon, the backdrop on Duncan's website was altered. Officials with the Duncan camp denied that All had any affect. They noted that web images -- which are only seen on the border of the site -- are set to change at random, mainly to shots from the congressman's home state: Kentucky. But the link to the Erin Hill's backdrop (which was posted by All and had a Duncan URL) was, it seems, erased.

"Clearly a lot of people responded, it sparked a little discussion, and they listened," said All, who, It should be mentioned, is volunteering on behalf of Duncan's competitor for the RNC chair, Saul Anuzis.

Asked to respond, Chris Taylor, a spokesman for Duncan said: "I don't believe that the decision of the 168 RNC members [who decide on the next chair] will be made over arguing about backdrops to websites. I believe that it comes down to the issues, that is what these members are focused on. And that is what Chairman Duncan is running his campaign on."

Taylor may be right. But there is a larger point here. "

" Looks like Cognitus is in dire need of further education:

Even though Obama is not yet in office, he has been telling us what he plans to do. And a significant number of those plans ARE CONTRADICTORY TO WHAT HE PROMISED.

PAST AND RECENT OBAMA LIES:

-Selects majority of his Admin from former Clinton Admin

-Names Hillary Clinton Sec of State AFTER belittling her foreign policy credentials

-No Windfall profit tax on Big Oil

-Refusal to investigate terror interrogators.

-He backed the FISA bill

-He said he wouldn't accept campaign donations from private corporations, lobbyists, and special interests groups

-He is going to commit to a nuclear umbrella against Iran

-AND TROOP WITHDRAW:

In an AP story from September 18, 2004, which reported that Barack Obama had previously been open to a U.S. troop increase in Iraq when he was running for Senate, but had warned against a premature troop withdrawal as a "slap in the face to the troops fighting there" which could make Iraq "an extraordinary hotbed of terrorist activity."

AND NOW:

Your claim that Obama influenced Bush's withdraw agreement, is tantamount to YOU taking credit for tommorrow's sunrise.

BUT FIRST:

OBAMA'S ORIGINAL WITHDRAW PLAN:
In a separate six-page Iraq plan, he says in a section headed All Combat Troops Re deployed by 2009: The best way to protect our security and to pressure Iraq's leaders to resolve their civil war is to begin immediately to remove our combat troops. Not in six months or one year - now.

AND NOW

Now that hes been elected...well, he didnt really mean END And he didnt really mean bring home all the combat troops as much as just rename them as training, support, security, etc. Tens of thousands of American troops will remain in Iraq for years-at least until 2011, and perhaps indefinitely as there is no longer the promised Democratic TIMELINE FOR WITHDRAWAL from Iraq.

I think this is important, and so do the hundreds of millions of people around the world who opposed Pres Bushs effort to train the Iraqi security forces, to secure Iraq, to fight Al Queda in Iraq, to leave Iraq only when its secure enough to prevent the need for a 3rd invasion, and who demanded a TIMELINE FOR WITHDRAWAL from President Bush. Those hundreds of millions of people around the world saw HOPE and CHANGE in the face of Pres-elect Obama. Instead, Americans are literally getting the Bush plan for Iraq run by Pres-elect Obama.

So tell me Cogi- is THIS the "Change" (I.E. LIES) you voted for? "

Dec. 12 (Bloomberg) -- A bankruptcy filing by General Motors Corp. or Chrysler LLC might send the U.S. economy into chaos within weeks if it led to a shutdown at the companies.

Industry experts and economists say the automakers would close plants, fire tens of thousands of workers and cut production. That would cause many of their suppliers to collapse, triggering more job losses, straining the cities and states where the car and parts companies operate, as well as federal safety-net programs.

It would also deliver another psychological blow to consumers and a major shock to Main Street following the crises on Wall Street.
