Undefeated Lady Trojans win Apollo opener

MOUNT ZION -- Charleston outscored Mount Zion 23-3 in the second quarter en route Monday’s 67-48 win in an Apollo Conference girls’ basketball opener.

“We had a real nice second quarter,” Charleston coach Jeff Miller said. “We were just knocking down shots. That’s the key to winning ball games - making shots and playing good defense and we did both in the second quarter.”

Stephanie Harper had 20 points, 14 rebounds and four assists and Holly Wohltman scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Lady Trojans raised their record to 8-0.

Brittany O’Dell added eight rebounds and Haley Sparks had three assists and three steals.

“That’s a real nice win for us at Mount Zion,” Miller said. “They’re a much improved ballclub.”

Charleston is to play host to Paris in another conference game Thursday.
