Windsor Elementary observes Veterans Day

WINDSOR — On Nov. 10, the Windsor Community School District hosted a Veterans Day assembly.

The Boy Scouts presented the flag, and the “Star Spangled Banner” was sung. The kindergarten class led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Elementary Principal Cynthia Bankson welcomed those in attendance and a slideshow presentation was conducted by high school students.

FFA members John Welsh, Suzanne Walker and Gannon Croy read patriotic stories.

Veterans introduced themselves to the students and commented on the time that they served in the military.

First- and second-grade students sang “America to Me” and “Proud to Be an American.”

Kindergarten through third-grade students sang “Grand Old Flag” and fourth- through sixth-grade students sang “Americans We.”

As the FFA demonstrated flag folding, Taylor Williamson talked about the meaning of each fold.

The band played “America the Beautiful” and Stephanie Kinkley, band director, played “Taps.”

At the end, participants joined together to sing “God Bless the U.S.A.”

The master of ceremonies was Denise Sentel, and the assembly was organized by Bev Peadro.
