CHARLESTON -- The Eastern Illinois University Jazz Ensemble wraps up the year with a concert at 7:30 tonight in The Theatre at Doudna Fine Arts Center.
The concert has been moved from Dvorak Concert Hall.
Special guest artist EIU faculty jazz pianist Paul Johnston. Among the selections are fresh arrangements of well known standards such as “April in Paris” and “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” a masterful medley arrangement of “Come Saturday Morning” and “Theme from Daphnis and Chloe,” and many other traditional and contemporary pieces for big band. The award-winning EIU Jazz Ensemble is directed by Sam Fagaly.
Admission is $12 for the general public, $10 for senior citizens and EIU employees, and $5 for students. Reservations are available by emailing
doudnatix@eiu.edu or phoning 581-3110. And tickets may be purchased in advance at the Doudna Fine Arts Center Box Office 2 to 6 p.m. People with reservations are asked to pick up their tickets by no later than 7:15 p.m.
