LETTER: Country was ambushed in recent campaign

Ambushed, that's the only way to describe what has just happened to this country.

The Democrats sat on their hands for at least 4 or 5 years, doing absolutely nothing, and hoping the Republican party would self-destruct, which they did.

Barack Obama did not introduce any major bills to benefit us in the last few years, either in Illinois or on the national level.

Along with this, Christopher Dodd, Shumer, and others headed the oversight committees that should have had a handle on what was going on with our financial institutions.

This, with Acorn, who pressured lending institutions to make loans to people that could ill-afford to buy high priced homes, that in turn helped cause the collapse of our economy.

But they saw they could blame everything on the George Bush administration, and that is exactly what they did.

It's pure and simple. They sold out the country for their own political gain.

Add to the above, why hasn't anyone mentioned that the energy fiasco, with gasoline and diesel fuel at $4 a gallon, which had a big negative effect on travel, the tourism industry, food prices, agricultural commodities, etc?

This was due to the Democrats and a few liberal Republicans not allowing drilling in the fertile oil fields, environmental suppression for development of clean fossil fuels, no new nuclear power plants, no new refineries.

Again, thank you Democrat leaders for ambushing America.

Slick talking got you into power, so now let's see what you can do with the MESS you created.

All of the above enabled the Democrats to veer public opinion and concerns away from the very successful war with Iraq, National Security and other issues that were important.

And John McCain and his advisers, like George Bush, took the "high road" and Obama took the low road.

He lied to the Republicans and changed his position on Public Financing, which affected the waning days of McCain's campaign tremendously.

President-elect Barack Obama will have to earn the respect of a lot of citizens in the U.S.and many of our allies.

As for me, I am not willing to accept him, and character does matter.

Bill Clinton set the "bar" or standards for character, and Barack Obama carries on the tradition, with relationships and friends like William Ayers, Tony Rezko, and others.

When the "waffling" begins, don't blame me.

JERRY CIZEK

Greenup

Poor, poor Jerry, my liberal bleeding heart really goes out to you and the rest of the losers. The death-grip you and the rest of your KLAN have had on our country's throat has finally been released. The white sheets have been lifted to reveal your true colors - claiming to love America, but clearly hating Americans. And the landslide loss was the result, plus adding salt to your wounds was that the fine folks in Coles county even had the nerve to prefer 'that one'. So what's a 'good-ole-boy' to do, jerry? The media was not willing to delve into his past (or like they did Palin and JOe the plumber) and associations like they should have because they did not want to knock him off the pedestal they had placed him on. And the Bush hatred is all out of proportion to the fact that our current president is the reason we have been kept safe since 9/11.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The Dumacrats set such a great example to follow, too! They've been crying and whinning the last eight years. In spite of losing, they've done everything under the sun to wreck any efforts of GWB and the Republicans efforts to lead this country in a positive manner. The Dumacrats have been quite successful in destroying the USA while using every possible mis-direction tactic to blame the Republicans for their own Dumacrat temper tantrums.

Convincing the Democrats of the truth is impossible. They wouldn't recognize it even if it smacked them right between their eyes. "

Repeating the lie that it's the Dems and the environmentalist's fault won't cut it. As usual, Jerry writes another one of his uninformed letters based on Republican talking points that won't hold water when scrutinized. "

As for the gas prices - who are you blaming there? I see you don't mention President Bush's name. I bet he profitted much more than Obama by the $4.00 a gallon gas prices.

The Uniter after 9/11 had 95% of Americans (Rep AND Dems) eating out of his hand. We would have followed him ANYWHERE to get Bin Laden. (You do remember Bin Laden don't you??) However instead of storming into Afganistan after Bin Laden, the Divider decides to take out Sadam!!!! THEN he lost the will of majority of Americans. THAT was the start of the fall of his Presidency. Add in Katrina, de-regulation another stolen election and the American people were fed up with his "You're either with us or against us" philosophy. If you honestly believe the Democrats had ANY CONTROL even after 2006 when they had the majority in Congress you have been asleep TOO LONG!! From the day the Dems took the majority the Republicans threw up a RECORD number of filibusters so basicly the government came to a halt. The Republicans were hoping in doing so THEY would be able to win the majority back this year. Thankfully the majority of Americans were listening and watching as the Republicans kept shooting themselves in the foot. The election is behind us, you can either help gain the United States trust and stature back in the world, help our country dig out of this record ecomonic disater or you can drag your feet kicking and screaming for the next 4 years. IT'S UP TO YOU!! "

Political cronies in positions of power and responsibility will be replaced by men and women of intellect, wisdom and adult responsibility. The era of rampant incompetence and embarrassment will be soon over.
We're about to restore the framers' wisdom by shoring up the bulwark of liberty, the U.S. Constitution. It's just an "(expletive deleted) piece of paper" to Bush, the trashy Texas moron. But it's something else to the people who supported Obama, and to the professor of constitutional law who will now occupy the Oval Office.
In short, the world will be a better place, but not because of you right wingers. It will be in spite of you. Liberals and rational centrists are responsible, and we will proudly accept all responsibility and blame from the ranting right.
Welcome to a better place, right wingers. No gratitude is necessary. We know you arent big enough people to express it, anyway. "

With Bush in office, we launched two wars in three years, borrowed trillions from overseas to pay for a deficit budget, neglected the economy, wrote environmental policy for the polluters instead of the citizens and the list goes on and on. In fact, George W. Bush did nothing during his EIGHT years in office except to give tax cuts to wealthy Americans while the rest of us lost our jobs and houses.

2. Maybe you should get your facts straight about Florida in 2000. The actual truth is that when a full recount of the full state was conducted, Gore DID WIN. Turns out the democrats only error was not requesting a full recount from the beginning...that and not having the Supreme Court in their back pocket!

And to Jerry...you are an idiot if you think everything is because of the democrats! They have had virtually no power since Clinton left the White House. You people need to wake up and realize that God and his Son are POLITICALLY NEUTRAL. Your claims and blasphemy about "God bless America" are not only LIES, they are blasphemy.

There is a sign on the way into Charleston that some fool always uses to promote his idea of religion. One recently asked "Who would Jesus vote for?" A more accurate statement would be, "Would Jesus vote?" NO, he would not. Neither would his first century Christian followers.

Then watch the second one. After that, answer me how it's only the Democrats involved in vote tampering/rigging. Seriously. And yet, no one is prosecuted....again. What happened to my beloved America where we abide by the rule of law? "

" Neocon, I'm sorry it seems that I keep bashing you, but about your post regarding private contractors in Iraq, I have spoken with many Iraq vets and they are pretty much livid about Blackwater mercenaries getting paid $100,000 to be in Iraq to do the jobs that they can do, for dollars a day. Next, these same vets have complained that they sit around bored to death with nothing to do because Halliburton is doing the cooking, maintenance, laundry and the like and our solders are very capable of doing that themselves too. Once again, these contractors are getting paid a pretty penny to be there. Our solders get paid very little to be bullet and bomb targets for these private contractors to rake in millions. Our soldiers don't like them there. They feel that the billions spend on private contractors should be better spent on the military itself providing better equipment, machines, medical care, GI Bill benefits and va benefits. And, I think they are right. "

" I have come to the reluctant conclusion that many Americans long to embrace fascism.

Ugly and small-minded, with a violent distaste for anyone they perceive as different, they like the idea of people being kidnapped by the government and locked in secret prisons where they can be tortured and murdered in complete legal darkness.
They like the idea of private mercenary companies mowing down the unarmed citizenry in countries their nation has invaded and occupied.
They want the government to spy on all Americans at all times.
They loudly condemn any poor person who steals something, but fashion strange, tortured defenses for corporate CEOs who rob billions from the public.
Anti-individualist to the bone, they demand that everyone else grovel before their deities and their flags.

Much of their conversation consists of nothing more than a tedious recitation of their imagined grievances against women, against gay people, against people who have other religious convictions, against black or brown or yellow people.

They enjoy listening to ranting idiots on the radio and television, and think those loudmouth dropouts are "intellectuals." They have a long list of people they want to execute, and they delight in telling you how much they would enjoy seeing that done.
For all the lip service they may pay the Constitution from time to time, in fact they despise it.

They don't like to call themselves "fascists," of course, but that"s just a PR ploy. What they like, very much, is being fascists.
Obama's election gives me the first, thin ray of hope I've had in such a long time that I'm having a hard time accepting it. "

" r,w,b...please read the link below. It discusses how Gore, not Bush wins Florida if the "overvotes are counted. Overvotes were ballots where a voter marks the candidate of their choice but then also "wrote in" the name of the same candidate to emphasize the point. These votes marked Gore and written Gore, and likewise for Bush were never counted even though the voter intent was 100% clear. When counted, these votes gave Gore the State of Florida. I know you didnt hear it on FoxNews so it must be false, but try to have some other sources on occasion!

-------

The point is that there has been/are somewhere around 130,000 civilian contractors in Iraq supporting our troops. The war could not be prosecuted without the contractors.

Have there been some excesses,...yes... BUT NOT DISPROPORTIONAL to occurrences found OUTSIDE of a war zone. The "OBJECTIVE" media in this country, because it overwhelmingly leans LEFT, sensationalizes these events, just like it always does to influence the public toward its persuasions (read up on "yellow journalism" and other journalism scandals in the US) and YOU BOZOS on the left have sucked it all and regurgitated here over the past 8 years.

Shoot...half the country doesn't know where Iraq is on a map but because some pretty face on the idiot box reports it....well you know the rest....you believe everything they tell you.

You all are now going to get yours for all the garbage you all spewed out AD NAUSEUM to get your liberal messiah back into the Whitehouse.

I find it funny you all moan about Fox News (owned by a capitalist Aussie) yet you all take the other news, outlets especially CNBC, MSNBC, and NBC owned by General Electric, as the PARAGONS OF TRUTH for the country.
--------------------
And as for Cheney's "profits" which would be his stock options, he has promised to donate those to charity. Funny that was about 7 or 8 years ago.
-----

Oh... but we sure've had to hear about it, again, ad nauseum, over the past 8 years haven't we. Some one brought it up again on another post just recently...
---------------
I have to say NeoCon Academician, that you are starting to sound like a spoiled little kid who didn't get his way. I think you must be setting a new record for sour grapes on this site. Do you always act like this when you lose?

Geesh, what a baby! "
--------

Oh...and we sure got to hear from YOU BOZOS on the left about how the election was stolen back in 2000 and 2004. Sorry that the electoral college was in the way and you all couldn't get what you wanted then... Al Bore in the Whitehouse. Boy... I sure do recall a lot of wailing then from you lefties. But I guess you don't recall that, hum?

So, if it sounds like sour grapes, so be it. As for "Baby"...yeah...whatever.

With all due respect, IF I AM A BABY you either are a MINDLESS LAP DOG or a HYPOCRITE. Which is it? You make the call. "

Now, I don't know that 52% to 46% is overwhelming, but let us assume it is. Question goes on to say, in light of this "overwhelming" election of Obama that, "I have come to the reluctant conclusion that many Americans long to embrace fascism." I am so glad to hear you say that. With Obama saying he wants to "spread the wealth around" and his VP explaining it is the "patriotic duty" of Americans with means to pay more taxes in order for that money to be distributed to those with less, I agree that Americans have embraced facism, which Meriam-Webster defines as "a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation [spreading the wealth around], and forcible suppression of opposition[fairness doctrine]." Now you can squirm and wriggle all you want, but throwing around words like facism to describe your opposition when your side is overtly displaying fascist qualities is kind of a strange tactict. I know how you NBC (National Barack Channel) worshipers love to ignore your facts, but ignoring something doesn't make it untrue.

Speaking of the National Barack Channel, I woke up this morning to see them clearing the air on all of the negative stories they ran on Palin during the election. I thought it was awfully nice of them to reveal it was all a bunch of crap now that the election is over.

Happy Veterans Day "

" Neocon, I'm sorry it seems that I keep bashing you...."

Becky...you are not bashing me...you are asking an intelligent question. I respect that.
------

After Gulf War 1, GHW Bush down sized the military. Afterward, with the USSR gone, it was thought that we didn't need a big military.

So as defense outlays under Clinton decreased, it was thought that for-profit contractors like with Haliburton, Blackwater, Kellog Brown & and Root, Dyncorp, and Knoll-Crucible, etc. could be used to fill the gap.

Clinton used contractors in Bosnia/Balkans in the '90's and there were "issues" then with them. Wonder why nothing was brought up then...oh silly me....duh...Clinton was in the Whitehouse! Where was the media?

The fact of the matter is...contractors are more productive, efficient, and cost effective than our bureaucratic military. William Perry and Don Rumsfeld knew this and that's why they used/use them. So if these contractors are getting paid $100K then there a "steal". They generally get paid a straight fee with no benefits, so in reality it's comparable to US military personnel wages.

Anybody that's been remotely around the services knows that the military's not designed to be productive and efficient. The term "hurry up and wait" generally applies.

The advantage with the US using these contractors is that you can fire them if they don't perform, there cost effective, and and they are operationally more effective than troops.

The disadvantage is oversight. There in a war zone but not necessarily subject to US martial law...nor are they necessarily subject to the sovereign country's laws (like in Iraq or Afghanistan).

So to make a long story short...tell your congressmen to tell "the messiah" to increase the size of the military if you don't like the government/military using contractors.

With "the messiah" soon surrendering in Iraq and Afghanistan...don't hold your breath. "
