Home Care and Hospice Month activities Wednesday

MATTOON — Lincolnland Home Care of Sarah Bush Lincoln and Lincolnland Hospice are celebrating National Home Care and Hospice Month with a health fair from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cross Country Mall, Mattoon.

Also sponsored by In Home Medical, Sarah’s Homemakers and Lifeline, the event will include free health screens and vaccinations, health information, a performance by Motherlode and celebrity-called bingo.

The Coles County Public Health Department will be on hand to provide free flu and pneumonia shots. Sarah Bush Lincoln will offer free health screens from 8 to 10 a.m. They will include bone density scans for osteoporosis, blood pressure, blood sugar, pulmonary function, balance and pulse oximetry tests.

Hand massages will be available, as well. Mammograms will be offered on a first-come first-served basis in the SBL mobile mammography van.

Table displays will feature information on home care and hospice services, as well as other Sarah Bush Lincoln-affiliated programs and services including food and nutrition services, the sleep lab, the volunteer Guild, the AdvantAge 50 senior benefits program and the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation. Information about physicians and other healthcare providers new to the area will be available as well.

Entertainment, provided by Motherlode, will begin at 8:30 a.m.; free bingo will begin at 10 a.m. Participants will be eligible to register for door prizes.
