You appear to be saying the politicians spend the tax dollars on themselves - is that what you are saying? If so, you are wrong.
They spend the money on things their district or State requires or needs, like roads, signs, transportation, senior centers, community centers, mowing, snow plowing, etc...
Socialism is when wealth and power are distributed evenly. There is not one candidate offering that this year.
Both presidential candidates want to 'share' the wealth and put it to good use elsewhere.
John McCain:
"I am disappointed that the Senate Finance Committee preferred instead to cut the top tax rate of 39.6% to 36%, thereby granting generous tax relief to the wealthiest individuals of our country at the expense of lower- and middle-income American taxpayers." [McCain Senate floor statement, May 21, 2001]
"But when you look at the percentage of the tax cuts thatas the previous tax cutsthat go to the wealthiest Americans, you will find that the bulk of it, again, goes to wealthiest Americans." [NBCs "Today," Jan. 7, 2003]
He's giving tax cuts to mainly the wealth and corporations. But he's also spending money on health care and energy.
Barack Obama:
Wants to use some of those taxcuts that were given to the wealthiest (putting them back to where they were in the 90s when we had a SURPLUS), oil companies and corporations and use them to build up the middle class, our infrastructure (which will create jobs), help give new incentives for new energy sources that will create new jobs, give small companies incentives for hiring employees and give preventive health care to all -- which in the long run will save us ALL money.
Yes the first couple of years will increase our deficit, but after that, the new jobs will bring in more revenue to help payoff our bills.
Some of that money will come from getting out of Iraq where we are currently spending 10 billion a month at.
You are one of those, it sounds like anyway, that believes people should rely on their church and neighbors for help -- you seem to forget that not everybody has 'connections' or 'family' to get help from. Not everybody had a good job thru out their lives and were able to save money for retirement or disability.
In my view, there's good government use and bad. Yes there is abuse -- for the most part however - that can be controlled with the right leadership.
Just as we have financial consultants, we sometimes need someone to help us put our money to better use. Force us to save for Soc Sec retirement, or force us to cover our children's health care if possible - for example. "
