Film festival to feature youth workshop

CHARLESTON — In conjunction with this year’s Embarras Valley Film Festival, the Coles County Arts Council and Tarble Arts Center, Eastern Illinois University, are co-sponsoring a free film-making workshop for youths aged 11-18 on November 1 from 10am-12:30pm.

Instructor Paul Brown will lead participants through the creation of a stop-motion animation segment using digital cameras, props, and lap top computers.

The workshop will take place in the Tarble classroom. Students’ works will be shown between movie features on Saturday, November 8 in downtown Charleston.

To register, contact the Tarble Arts Center at 217-581-2787 or kmorice@eiu.edu. Registration will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Students are asked to bring a digital camera if possible.

Located on Ninth Street at Cleveland Avenue, on Eastern Illinois University’s campus in Charleston, the Tarble Arts Center is partially supported by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and by the Tarble Arts Center Endowment and membership contributions.

The Embarras Valley Film Festival will take place November 4-8 on the EIU campus and downtown Charleston. Festival co-sponsors are the Eastern Illinois University College of Arts & Humanities; the Doudna Fine Arts Center Visiting Artists Fund and the Excellence in Fine Arts Fund/EIU Foundation; Booth Library, EIU; the Coles County Arts Council; and the Charleston Public Library.
