ABATE to travel Lincoln's judicial circuit

ABATE of Illinois will sponsor a ride around the old Eighth Judicial Circuit on Oct. 11-12.

This circuit was the one traveled by Abraham Lincoln.

The Lincoln Circuit Ride will begin as Lincoln did: in Springfield, from his office on Sixth Street. Motorcyclists will lead, but bicyclists, joggers, horses and automobiles are welcome, as this is a family event.

Over the two days, the ride will cover approximately 400 miles and make stops in several communities: Urbana, Paris, Charleston, Shelbyville, Sullivan, Decatur and Taylorville.

Local historians will meet the group at these stops and share a bit of local Lincoln history. They also will stop at every county line marker erected by Daughters of the American Revolution in the early 1920s. The cost to participate in the event is $10. For more information call Rose at 891-6297 or George at 899-1870; or visit the Web at http://www.lincoln
