Mattoon's Hatfield among Exchange Golf winners



MATTOON -- Ron Hatfield of Mattoon was the long drive winner at Saturday’s Lincoln Land District Exchange Golf Tournament.

A Naperville tam won the low gross championship and traveling trophy n the event where Exchange golfers gathered for the district at Meadowview Golf Course.

The field included four Mattoon teams, two from Belleville and one each from Alton and the Quad Cities.

The low gross champions were Naperville’s Bryan Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell and Bernie Siwik with a 10-under par.

The low net champions from Belleville consisted of Jan Ballas, Jim Booker, Teresia Mueller and Paul Zollner.

The individual winners were:

Men’s Division

Longest Drive - Ron Hatfield, Mattoon

Closest to the Pin: Bill Marshall, Alton

Women’s Division

Longest Drive - Judy Greer, Quad Cities

Closest to the Pin - Jan Ballas, Belleville

Longest Putt: Skip Wiese, Waukegan

Golf prizes were awarded to each participant and the grand prize of a flat screen television was won by Gene Griffen of Alton. Jan Ballas of Bellville walked away with $103 from the 50/50 drawing.

After the tournament a rib-eye dinner was served.

The Mattoon Exchange Club Golf tournament committee was Max Jaeger, Bob Handshy, Dean Marshall, Laura Seils, Bill Van Keuren and Phil Wilson.
