Illini Girls State chairwoman Cinda Held introduced Hannah Layton, one of the 2008 IGS delegates from Strasburg. She reported on her week at IGS. She was in Burns City, was elected to the House of Representatives, and then was elected as clerk of the House. She introduced a bill that protesters may stay a certain distance away from the visitation, funeral and burial of a fallen veteran.

It was reported that an IGS alumni association is being started. To become a charter member, the initial joining fee is $10.

The 19th District Fall Convention was held Sept. 27 at the Mattoon Post Home. The 19th District Junior Fall meeting was Sept. 28 at Champaign 24.

A resolution was submitted and passed by Liberty Unit 289 revising the chain of command to achieve the presidency of the Fourth Division.

The Halloween Soup Supper will be Oct. 24. Plans will be finalized at the October meeting.

The Shelby County Council meeting will be Oct. 27 in Shelbyville. Nineteenth District President Yvonne Tucker will be the special guest.
