Sullivan gets first win of season



SULLIVAN – Tyler Frerichs passed for 112 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 93 yards and another TD in Sullivan-Okaw Valley’s first win of the football season Friday.

The Redskins held off a Monticello comeback for a 35-28 Okaw Valley Conference football win.

Mead Flannell caught four passes for 80 yards, including touchdown a 32-yard touchdown reception.

Dalton Shasteen caught a 27-yard scoring pass from Frerrichs, who was 7-for-11 passing.

Chance Typer contributed 71 yards on 20 rushes including a touchdown.

Sullivan led 35-14 after three quarters.

Harley Miller had nine solo tackles, three assists and a tackle for loss while Typer had seven solos, four assists and one flor loss. Shasteen had an interception and a fumble recovery.

Arthur-Lovington wins over South Piatt

ARTHUR -- Arthur-Lovington won over South Piatt 41-13 in LOVC football action Friday night. Adam Carver threw for 191 yards while Justin Schuring rushed for 148 yards the Knights. Arthur-Lovington is to travel to Hume to face East Central next week.

Red Hill shuts down Martinsville

BRIDGEPORT – Red Hill claimed a 21-0 victory over Martinsville on Friday.

Jared Higginbotham had 115 yards on 10 passes. Jake Hilderbrandt had 51 yards rushing, Reese Draper had 38 yards rushing and one catch for 23 yards. Bryant Washburn had one catch for 22 yards and Josh Cribelar had five catches for 51 yards.

Leading Martinsville defensively was Hilderbrandt with 11 solo tackles and three assists. Higginbotham had eight solo tackles and six assists.

Martinsville, 2-4, is to celebrate Senior Night against Flora at home on Friday.

Flora slips past Cumberland

TOLEDO – The Flora Wolves slipped past Cumberland 14-13 in a Little Illini Conference game on Friday,

Jaton McMechan had 64 yards and Josh Rodebaugh had 41 yards rushing. Silas Gabel had 51 yards on three catches.

The Pirates must win the last three games of the season to make the playoffs.

Cumberland is now 3-3 overall and in the conference and is to travel to Albion to face Edwards County on Friday.
