CHS girls win golf triangular



CHARLESTON -- Coach Deb Landsaw was a happy spectator watching in Charleston’s girls’ golf triangular win Monday.

“It was great,” Landsaw said. “I saw nice shots all around. We ranged for 43 to 54.”

The Lady Trojans had a four-player total of 197 strokes to top Champaign Central’s 207 and Teutopolis’ 232 at Charleston Country Club’s front nine.

Lauren Buttram of Charleston shot a 43 to edge Teutopolis’ MaKe’l Westendorf by one stroke for medalist honors.

“I was so pleased,” Landsaw said. “The shots looked good. They all looked like they knew what they were doing. I think everyone had par or two pars. We hope to continue playing like this With the regional on our course, it would be great if we can keep it together like that.”

Next for the Lady Trojans is a Wednesday match against Champaign Centennial at the University of Illinois Blue Course at Savoy.

JV tennis girls lose

CHARLESTON – Paris defeated Charleston’s junior varsity girls’ tennis team 9-0 Monday.

The JV Lady Trojans are 2-1.

“Our girls continue to grow in their level of play each game and we look forward to our future program with these girls,” Charleston coach Eric Bright said.
