LETTER: Dems or Republicans -- a plague on both houses

Senator Obama became a presidential candidate promising change. Since announcing his candidacy, he has changed his mind and changed direction on important issues many times.

He wants to change the tax laws and put more change in his liberal constituent’s pockets while taking change from the so called “wealthy”! If elected he certainly would change history and implement his new changed tax program.

Business owners will be compelled to change their pricing due to changes in labor costs, transportation costs, advertising costs etc. Retail prices would therefore change upwardly. Other businesses may even change their addresses!

Didn’t Bill Clinton champion NAFTA which has certainly changed our industrial/manufacturing landscape thereby increasing our national job loss numbers.

Bet now Senator Obama wishes he could change his pick for vice president! The facts don’t change! He hasn’t the experience to be president!

Senator McCain, wanting to change the polls, decided to get on the change bandwagon also by selecting Governor Palin as his Veep choice. He threw the conservatives a change-up by selecting her, knowing she was not qualified to be commander-in-chief. She may have to change roles should his health change.

Does vetted mean driving her around in a Corvette? She also will change history if she can change the minds of Hillary’s supporters. She needs their vote. Will they change their party affiliation?

Governor Palin’s husband will now be in charge of changing diapers and bed sheets, thereby changing roles with his wife. Wonder who will be in charge of changing the oil in their vehicles?

Some things never change. Unfortunately its politics as usual. This election cycle has become a three-ringed circus with the Democrats braying and the GOP bellowing while touting their ivory. Nothing has really changed. Candidates will say or do anything to get elected. They all need to change underwear because they’re full of it! Let’s contribute a box of Depends to each candidate instead of money. That surely would send a message loud and clear that Americans are fed up with the status quo.

What both parties have spent to get their respective party elected certainly isn’t chump-change.

Do you suppose any candidates will change their minds after being elected? Duh! Since change also means reform, should the candidates be in a reformatory which is defined as a penal institution to which young or first-time offenders are committed for training and reformation?

Isn’t change wonderful? Looks to me like by voting in this election we’re only rearranging the chairs on the Titanic!

Sure is hard to decide between those two, isn't it? It's like deciding if you'd rather die tomorrow, or 10 years from now. "

" Unfortunately, no candidate these days can 'stick to their core beliefs' -- if that is, they wish to actually win in November.

If you know anything about politics and the beliefs of EITHER Party -- that is basically the only thing you can base your vote on (unless you know the person that is running - as a friend).

Republicans tend to want people to 'take care of themselves' or go to their families, neighbors or church for help. Don't expect me a total stranger to help you. Work hard and you'll have everything you ever need.

Republicans over the past 8 years have decided it's ok to intrude on the privacy of the common citizen - in the past - they did not.

Democrats tend to want to make everybody 'share the burden of others'. They feel that if everybody according to their income levels, puts in their share -- that way everybody benefits...not just the rich and famous.

Democrats want help from the government (taxpayer money) but they don't want government in their bedrooms or homes.

Republicans tend to want OTHERS (voluntary Army) to 'protect them' and tend to find ways to avoid serving if drafted. They tend to 'hit' first, ask questions last.

Democrats will fight for a good reason, but feel it's best to use police,CIA and covert actions to get the enemy first - war at last resort only.

Republicans want freedom to run a business, spend their money, treat customers and employees whatever way they wish. They say the 'market' will handle the abusive cases.

Democrats want to have regulations in almost every business or governmental entity. They don't 'trust' just anybody. Too much freedom can be a bad thing sometimes.

Democrats want a woman and her doctor to decide whether to give birth.

Republicans on one hand are willing to kill in war, allow deadly weapons in the hands of anybody and they believe in the death penalty -- yet they also want the right to demand others give birth even in the case of rape or incest.

It's always amazed me how Republicans want to use embryos (that are being thrown out) to test for cures --- but they refuse to use any others. They've yet to explain what they would do if an embryo was found to cure cancer or old age.

It's really simple who to vote for. Just follow their Party's principles and if you agree with them - for that way. If you don't vote for the other person.

Making your decision on whether you like the person, think they are cute or handsome, a good speaker or not, black, white or brown, female or male -- is not a good way to choose. "

" Tally for spending in august, was 94 million, by both campaigns. Polling advertizing, and events, to win votes that don't count. It is the oddest free election, left in the world possibly. We certify and decide to recognize or not elections held overseas, but have an archaic electoral college, choose our leader. Its one of the dumbest things represented by our government. It should have been mothballed, in the sixties, if not sooner.

August was a slow month, spending goes up from there. From august to early november, these two will likely spend very close to Half a billion, to win votes that might never really count.

Its three months of high priced vaudeville entertainment, where they pay donated money to entertain us, until we find out what the electoral college picks for us to deal with for the next few years.

Debates begin next week. Gems to pick through, straight from the horses mouths, will likely be a big part of them. Post debate posturing, by campaigns will fill the weekend, and SNL fodder, will likely be ripe for the picking. Its all down hill from now on.

Frankly a trained chimp, could win a presidential election, and have a good shot at not failing as miserably as GW Bush has. So lets show a little more respect for primates, and all fellow vertibrates for that matter, this guy is in a class of his own. Bacteria is more focused and organized, than this goof was.

Bush set the bar, prety low for the next guy. It will take time, to get it up out of the hole it is now submerged in. Its not likely to be resolved in four, or even eight years. Estimates of twelve at least, in a best case scenario have been circulating.

This change of office, is like taking the winner to our mount trashmore, with a bag and a stick, to sift through it and make it dissapear. Sorry about the mess, Bush says on the way out. Heres the keys to the nuclear football, and the soda machine. Good luck, with finding binladen, and on that global warming thing.

Has anyone contacted guiness book? So many records have likely been set here, we could start our own political version of it. He blew through a trillion dollars this week, like it was water. Shock and awe, don't quite fit any more. We might have the highest ranking official, as a candidate for the darwin award of the century, or even milineum and we are only eight years into it. "

Democrats tend to lie to the public about ending the war to get a majority in congress and then do absolutely nothing.

Democrats think that politicians know better than anyone how to fight a war and base their opinions on public polls.

Democrats somehow want you to believe that raising taxes on the "Evil Corporations", which is already the 2nd highest in the world, will make them want to hire Americans.

Democrats secretly loathe the military and avoid anything to do with it by running off to Oxford or being a "community organizer" and doing drugs.

Democrats want you to believe that it's our fault that the terrorists attacked us and that people who have taken up arms against the US somehow deserve the same legal rights as everyone else.

Democrats want to scare people into thinking a Republican President will outlaw abortion as soon as they get into office.

Democrats aren't elitists but,...while Texans were suffering thru Ike (no doubt clinging to their guns and religion), the Dems were partying it up in a $30,000/plate dinner complete with liberal queen Barbara Streisand. "

Democrats believe that hard work should be rewarded, Republicans believe that the wealthy have the right to exploit their workers to line their own pockets. Democrats believe that innocent citizens have the right to privacy, Republicans believe that all citizens are potential terrorists whose phones should be monitored. Democrats understand that war is not the answer to world problems or combatting terrorism, Republicans believe in shooting first then wonder why citizens in other countries don't like us. Democrats believe that Corporations should pay their fare share of taxes and regulations set up to curb abuses, Republicans think that deregulation is the key to financial progress, then discover they have to "bailout" the financial giants whose unregulated greed has caused the near collapse of the worlds financial system. I could continue. But I don't need to. I made my point. "

Look at how much debt Bush has left us with- the largest debt in history! Which party loves to tell lies? The Republicans- just look at McCain's ads . He is pulling on anything to discredit Obama, and the only thing he has is abortion. WHo will bring about better foerign policies and more peace with other nations? The Democrats. In short, the so-called "mother of all bailouts," which will transfer $700 billion taxpayer dollars to purchase the distressed assets of several failed financial institutions, will be conducted in a manner unchallengeable by courts and ungovernable by the People's duly sworn representatives. All decision-making power will be consolidated into the Executive Branch - who, we remind you, will have the incentive to act upon this privilege as quickly as possible, before they leave office. The measure will run up the budget deficit by a significant amount, with no guarantee of recouping the outlay, and no fundamental means of holding those who fail to do so accountable.

Is this starting to sound familiar? You Republicans should be really proud....do you think the citizens of this country are going to elect another?? "

People were all woried about Romney, being a mormon. These folks are a little differing in view, beyond him. I am glad the republicans grew up so much, since their primaries. A candidate with nontraditional religion, and a woman in the same move. That was a big step for them.

It might be time, for Rush Limbaugh to sit down with Todd Palin, and get to the underlying truths. Isn't that the republican equivalent of a higher brow Springer show, melded with Imus and Howard Stern. "

Why do you think the terrorists attacked us? Because we showed them how easy it was. Starting with Carter clear through Clinton. With the exception of Reagan bombing Libya, we have used diplomacy and useless sanctions to retaliate against terrorists. Carter allowed a bunch of college kids to hold hostages of the most powerful nation for over a year. How preposterous is that? Do you think Russia or China would have put up with that? It is no wonder Bin Laden called us a "paper tiger". We finally got a President who takes the war to them and doesn't sit around waiting for the next attack and you all wanna complain when things get tough. Well, that's exactly what caused us to not win in Vietnam. "

Three of these Repubs just so happen to be Texans. Many people consider WWI and WWII to be legit, while Vietnam and Iraq/Afghanistan are considered very controversial. Hmm, let's raise minimum wage even more so that the small business owner can't pay his staff, so he lays them off. If he tries to keep them, he just raises prices to cover the increase in his costs. No, Cheney helped him.
If Al Gore had been elected instead of Bush being appointed, we would not have invaded Iraq and gotten a million people killed while spending $3 billion a week there for five years, and federal regulators would have been permitted to step in and stop the financial industry crooks BEFORE they had destroyed the national economy.
You Republicans voted for all this, so enjoy. Take comfort in the thought that Bush spent a few trillion to protect you from those WMD that didn't exist. "

I certainly don't believe all people are like that, and members of my own family have needed to depend on the government for assistance during tough times. But they also tried to dig out of those tough times by working really hard, and didn't resent those who weren't struggling. Universal health coverage - I have friends in foreign countries who have universal health coverage - for big things, they find a way to get here. They complain about the wait time to see a doctor, the limited care, it's not as beautiful as it sounds. And here in Illinois KidCare sounds great, but since our state rarely pays, good luck finding a doctor who will take it. I see that as an area where democrats are moving dangerously close to socialism, and that is a theory that looks great on paper, but doesn't pan out so well in reality.
