Comets fall short in opener



STRASBURG -- The Stewardson-Strasburg baseball team opened its fall season with a 4-3 loss to South Central Thursday at Knop Field.

The Comets led 2-1 after five innings when the Cougars scored three in the sixth for a 4-2 lead. Stew-Stras got a run back in the sixth and had the basses loaded when South Central brought in a new pitcher, who got out of the jam with a strikeout.

Luke Rincker was 2-for-4 with a double and a run batted in, while Jaden Widdersheim hit a home run.

Stew-Stras is to travel to Olney Saturday for a wooden bat tournament.
