Two Mattoon residents arrested for battery against police officers

MATTOON — Police announced the arrests Sunday of two Mattoon residents for apparently unrelated incidents of alleged battery against officers.

Mattoon police said Lasonvya M. Clavielle, 28, was arrested at 7:55 p.m. Sunday. She faces charges of alleged aggravated battery of an officer and resisting arrest.

According to police, Lasonvya Clavielle fought with officers when they tried to take her into custody because of an outstanding arrest warrant.

During that same incident, police arrested Latonya M. Clavielle, 30, of Mattoon for allegedly obstructing an officer. Police said Latonya Clavielle interfered with the arrest of Lasonvya Clavielle.

Latonya Clavielle posted bail and was released. Lasonvya Clavielle was transported to the Coles County jail, pending the filing of formal charges by prosecutors.

At 1:05 a.m. Sunday, Mattoon police arrested Mattoon resident Travis M. Tzu, 30, for alleged aggravated battery of an officer as well as threatening a public official.

Police said Tzu spit on an officer, and he also threatened to harm another officer.

Tzu also was taken to the county jail pending formal charges by the Coles County State’s Attorney’s Office.
