EIU single-game tickets to go on sale Monday



CHARLESTON -- Single-game tickets for the 2008 Eastern Illinois football season are to go go on sale to the general public at 9 a.m. Monday.

Fans can purchase tickets by calling 581-2106 or order online at www.EIUpanthers.com.

The Panthers home schedule includes five games staring with the home opener on Sept. 13 against Indiana State. Single tickets against the Sycamores are $15 with a 6 p.m. kickoff. That game also serve as the Panthers Hall of Fame game.

EIU is to open the Ohio Valley Conference season on Sept. 27 against Jacksonville State. Tickets for that game are $15 with a 1:30 p.m. That game is also Family Weekend on the EIU campus and could help determine the OVC champion as Jacksonville State was selected as the preseason favorite.

Homecoming is set for Oct. 18 versus Southeast Missouri with tickets costing $15 for the 1:30 p.m. start against the Redhawks.

EIU is to play Murray State on Nov. 1 at 1:30 p.m. with those tickets going for $13.

Senior Day is on Nov. 15 against Austin Peay. Tickets for the 1:30 p.m. game against the Governors are $13.

Season ticket packages will continue to be on sale for $60 which gives fans a 17 percent savings over purchasing all five games at the gate. Children’s season tickets are also available for just $25.

In addition tickets for the Sept. 6 game between Eastern Illinois and Illinois will go on sale on Monday morning. Tickets are $45 each and non-EIU season ticket holders are limited to just four tickets for that game.

The EIU ticket office is open in Lantz Arena from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets may also be purchased over the phone with a credit card or online by clicking the tickets link on www.EIUpanthers.com.

Sanders is an all-star

BOISE, Ida. — Former Eastern Illinois defensive back Terrance Sanders has been named to the Arena Football League 2 National Conference All-af2 team playing for the Boise Burn.

Sanders is a rookie member of the Boise Burn team that posted an 8-8 mark in the West Division of the National Conference. He was second on the team with 67.5 tackles and the team leader with 9 interceptions and 14 pass break-ups. His 9 interceptions ranked tied for 8th among All-af2 players. During the season he returned two interceptions for touchdowns and his 205 interception return yards ranked third.

Sanders played for the Panthers from 2002-05 returning an interception for touchdown against Illinois State in the Panthers 2006 NCAA FCS playoff game against the Redbirds.
