EIU men's basketball schedule takes shape

CHARLESTON -- Fourteen home games dot the Eastern Illinois home men’s basketball schedule released this week.

EIU plays host to Illinois College on Nov. 8 in the Panthers lone exhibition game. They then open the regular season with the first of two games against schools in the Mid-American Conference: at Ball State on Nov. 15.

The home opener for the Panthers is against Manchester College on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. An in-season home and home non-conference series with Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne starts on Nov. 22 in Fort Wayne, Ind., with the return game at Lantz Arena on Nov. 29. A mid-week game on Nov. 25 at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis is squeezed between the two games with the Mastodons.

December’s slate opens at home as the Panthers play five of seven contests in Lantz Arena. The OVC season begins with games against Tennessee State and Austin Peay on Dec. 4 and 6. A return game to Evansville from last year’s ESPNU Bracketbuster is set for Dec. 10. Western Illinois visits Charleston on Dec. 13, followed by Chicago State on Dec. 22. A visit to Bowling Green on Dec. 28 and a New Year’s Eve contest against Missouri Valley College rounds out the month.

January opens with three straight OVC road games at Jacksonville State, Tennessee Tech and Southeast Missouri. The Panthers lone non-conference game will be in the ESPNU Bracketbuster on Feb. 21, an away contest. The final home regular-season contest is on Feb. 18 vs. Tennessee Martin. The regular-season ends on the road at Austin Peay and Tennessee State.

OVC Tournament first-round games are to be played on campus sites on March 3, with the semifinal and championship rounds set for the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tenn., on March 6 and 7.

Season ticket information for men’s and women’s basketball is to be available in mid-September.
