CHARLESTON — Peyton Gill was crowned the winner of the 2008 Little Miss Coles County pageant Sunday at the Coles County Fair.

The 5-year-old Mattoon girl is the daughter of Kyle and Michelle Gill and won the pageant out of 10 contestants at the first grandstand event for the fair, which opened Sunday.

As the winner, Peyton received several prizes, including a bicycle from the Charleston Wal-Mart, a crown and other jewelry from Shores Jewelry in Mattoon, six box seats to other fair grandstand events, a sash and flowers from the Coles County Fair Association, car magnets from Rufener Photography, a diamond-shaped crown from pageant directors Lynn and Katie Rufener and a gift bag from WEIU-TV.
