Exchange Club installs officers, presents awards
MATTOON — The Exchange Club of Mattoon recently had its installation and awards banquet at Pagliacci’s Restaurant in Mattoon.
Officers installed for 2008-09 were: Phil Wilson, president; George Stone, president-elect; Dean Marshall, treasurer; Jerry Parker, secretary; and Bill VanKeuren, immediate past president.
Directors installed were Steve Huckaba, Tom LeVeck, Laura Seils, Max Jaeger, Mike Craig and Eric Rienbolt. Max Jaeger, past Lincolnland district president, was the installing officer.
Awards were presented to the following: Laura Seils, Rookie of the Year for contributions to Exchange during her first two years of membership; Carolyn Handshy, Contributing Service Award for contributions by a non-Exchangite to Exchange and to the community; George Stone, Distinguished Service Award for lifetime contributions to both Exchange and to the community; Laura Seils, All-American Volunteer for contributions made to Exchange at the local level this year; and Bill VanKeuren; Exchangite of the Year for contributions to Exchange at both the local and district levels. Max Jaeger chaired the awards committee.
The Exchange Club of Mattoon, a member of the Lincolnland District of Exchange and of the National Exchange Club, has more than 60 members and meets at 7 a.m. each Wednesday at Pagliacci’s Restaurant.
Prospective members are always welcome. During the past four years, the club has put back into the Mattoon community hundreds of volunteer hours and more than $39,000 in assistance to individuals and organizations promoting the four major objectives of Exchange: Americanism, community service; promotion of youth activities, and prevention of abuse to children.
