Toledo moved to Grimes, Post 88 to play at 9 p.m. in Firecracker

MATTOON – Play began at 1:20 p.m. today at Grimes Field with Mattoon Post 88 moved back to a 9 p.m. start in the rain-delayed American Legion baseball Firecracker Classic.

Toledo Post 764 had originally been schedule to have played today at Eastern Illinois’ Coaches Stadium but now moves to Grimes Field for a 7 p.m. game against Newburgh, Ind.

Mount Vernon, Ill., is forfeiting its game against Rantoul that was to be at 9 p.m. today. That allows Mattoon Post 88 to play Evansville (Ind.) Funkhouser at that 9 p.m. time slot instead of the 11 p.m. it would have had to have played in this revamped schedule.

Games are to be shortened to a 1-hour, 45-minute time limit today.
