Moody awarded EIU scholarships



CHARLESTON — The Eastern Illinois University Burgner Memorial Scholarship, Durham Environmental Biology, Errett Warner and Leonard Durham Environmental Biology Presidential and Hunt Environmental Biology awards have been presented to Cassi Moody of Charleston.

The Burgner Memorial Scholarship Award, established by Owensboro, Ky., resident Helen Burgner Douglas Hart, is administered through the EIU Foundation and presented to a Charleston or Mattoon high school graduate. The recipient should demonstrate outstanding character and be majoring in biological sciences, desiring to study botanical sciences, animal systems or environmental science.

The Durham Award, established by Florida residents Leonard and Olga Durham, is administered through the EIU Foundation and presented to an undergraduate or graduate student environmental biology intern. This award may also be used for environmental biology and/or zoology for graduate students in fisheries.

The Errett Warner and Leonard Durham Environmental Biology Presidential Award, established by the late Errett Warner formerly of Lawrenceville, is administered through the EIU Foundation and presented to an EIU junior or senior majoring in the field of biological sciences with an environmental biology option who demonstrates outstanding personal character and whose actions and conduct reflect with credit upon EIU. The recipient must also demonstrate outstanding scholastic achievement by maintaining at least a B average.

The Hunt Environmental Biology Award, established by Lawrence B. and Shirley F. Hunt, is administered through the EIU Foundation and presented to an EIU full-time junior or senior majoring in biological sciences with an environmental biology option who has an outstanding character with a genuine commitment to this field of study. The recipient must demonstrate high scholastic achievement maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Moody is the daughter of Vicki Huddleston and Terry Moody. She is a 2002 graduate of Charleston High School and is a senior majoring in environmental biology.
