Top seniors honored at CHS ceremony



CHARLESTON — The 10 seniors who had the highest grade-point averages in the Class of 2008 were among the Charleston High School students recognized at the school’s annual Honors Night ceremony Thursday.

The top seniors were Andrew Bower, Kim Roth, Willow Spencer, Molly Ball, Olivia Wasinski, Alex Meadows, Elizabeth Wilson, Tyler Replogle, Sarah Miller and Andrew Hudson.

Other awards presented Thursday included: 

- American Legion: Boy and Girl of the Year, Elliot McMillan, Betsy Hood; Boys State, Clinton Bays, Kevin Looby.

-Mattoon American Legion Auxiliary: Girls State, Olivia Ebinger. 

- VFW/Ladies Auxiliary: Boys State, Philip Sterling, Taylor Adams; Voice of Democracy, first, Luis Quijano, second, Alex Meadows, third, Kari Walden, fourth, Jennifer Farkas, fifth, Jenna Slaughter; Girls State, McKenzie Vilardo; VFW Scholarship, Kesley Batson. 

- Rotary Scholarship: Gabe Przygoda. 

- Coles County Farm Bureau: Kaitlyn Campbell, Richard Birch, David Barger, Chris Coon.
