Few answers for lawmakers on mistaken Blagojevich grant

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Illinois House members grilled a top Blagojevich administration aide about a $1 million grant mistakenly sent to a private school but got few answers.

Deputy Governor Louanner Peters spoke at a morning meeting of the House State Administration Committee. She says no one from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity attended the hearing because it is conducting an investigation into how Loop Lab School mistakenly got $1 million.

Governor Rod Blagojevich had promised the money after the historic Pilgrim Baptist Church burned in 2006.

Peters told committee chairman Jack Franks that she knew little about the grant.

Franks, however, says the governor's office is ``stonewalling.''

" They need to just do there, like they did us on Futuregen, Here you go, no wait, we're taking it away. Oh, well, I am glad to see that my tax dollars are now funding private schools after i spent my own money sending my kids to private schools for a total of 24 years. Nice one Rod, you Chi-town Shister! "
